Possible to remove scratches off HUD?

Hey guys. Not sure what the previous owners did but they scratched the heck out of the HUD. It doesn’t affect the HUD on the windshield but you can definitely see the scratches when looking down on the windshield. Kinda bothering me...any suggestions on what I can do to buff them out or am I kinda stuck with them?

They should polish out, the problem is finding a polish that's aggressive enough to remove the scratches without making it worse. It could require compound to get the scratches out and then polish to restore the finish. A headlight restoration kit might work.

After polishing as @Billfitz has noted, just carefully clean or dust after that and you won't have any issues. I actually found that a swiffer duster works great. Because it attracts dust you don't need to do much and it can easily reach into the corners. A microfiber cloth also works well. I surprisingly found the swiffer works great all over the car to collect dust especially in the vents and rear deck panel, etc. Good luck get this cleaned up.

Try Displex. Helped me get rid of similar scratches on the instrument cluster of my Audi.

Visit plastic store...

Get a 6x6" clear plastic panel... and buy one of the following...

1. Meguiars scratch X plastic restorer
2. Headlight de-yellowing kit

Experiment on sample piece before attempting.

My only concern might be IF the HUD glass has any UV coating on it to keep from sun deterioration.

Min is the same. I cleaned it gently when I first got the car to remove all the dirt and dust and detritus, then stopped looking in there.

Any updates or outcomes? Found any good polishes/compounds to get the scratches out or found a way to get a replacement screen? I'm in the same boat as you OP
