Beat me to it. Not a dramatic change but I like it. The new 7 will have the L-headlight style of the 4 Concept though

Huh??...

what about the led line stretching in towards the center, which is carefully disguised in the testing car?

I think those are LED, not Halogen, but it's really hard to tell from that zoom and angle.

Ugh, I hope not. That LCI front fascia is underwhelming. But maybe I'm biased because I've never been a fan of the 6 series.

I hope that's along the lines of what we get. It could be that the 6 series just didn't get make the "cut" for the new design language of the 3 series. Changing the front fascia and headlights doesn't happen overnight, and perhaps the "L-shaped" lights was a decision made in response to the C-class/A4/3-series market segment heating up more so than the 6 series.

Thanks - appreciate the luck. Maybe I wasn't clear that there are other "add-on's" making this car comparable to the M3 - including brakes, suspension, air intakes, exhaust, carbon fiber components, plus the tune, making up for the all wheel drive difference. No, I'm not so delusional to think it would out-run an F8x., but to give it a good all-wheel drive competitor off the line, and on the track. Remember, it's not always what you drive, but how it's driven that counts.

Yes, it would be easier to buy and M3 or M4, but project cars are fun, and they don't make all wheel drive M3's or M4's - yet.

BTY - I was referring to 420 ft-lbs of torque, when compared to a stock F8x, rated at just over 380. You do understand the difference, don't you?

As soon as the F30 LCI hits the streets, the first Gxx 3-series mule will be seen around Germany. Count on it.

This LCI is lame...

Sure its newer up front and back... just a novelty...

And actually it doesnt make things any significantly better...

The biggesy change is under the hood, but otherwise... i think my F30 looks better...

Meh

Geez, brother. No offence, but that's the craziest comment I've read in this forum. The designation of your car is changing man, in the tune of 65hp. What else did you want, a full re design?

Check out this thread (2015 M6 refresh) where it gets the new headlights and outer taillights. The 3er LCI will be very similar.

That LED line is most likely there to accent/fill in that stretched edge towards the grill that the 3/4er have and the 6 doesn't. However, if you look at the curvature of the halos, it is like that of the 6 LCI. If you look at the Concept 4, the halos are more angular (hexagonal as some may say), and if you look at the 7 spy shots it looks most similar to that. I don't know how to quote photos from other threads but you can go look and see.

In the end, we'll most likely see the 6 LCI style halos with that LED line from the concept 4. Not true hexagonal style. It will still look good though and I will want it on my F32.

Edit: I just checked the 7 thread again and the intensity/brightness looks different as well. The thread calls the new L shaped lights laser lights so that may be an indicator that the laser lights are exclusive to that look like the concept 4. We probably won't get an option for laser lights so we may not get that design.

Wow, here we go again, same comments, different generation 3er.

People that already own a f30:
Right now: "I hate the way the LCI looks, the pre-LCI is so much better."
In the future (when the car is revealed): "Its growing on me and makes my F30 look out-dated."
In the future (when the car is released): "I really like it, but I'm going to wait to buy(lease) the GXX 3er."

People that already own or have an F80 on order:
Enthusiasts : "I don't care, if the taillights are the same shape and plug-and play, I might or might not swap them out."
Non-Enthusiasts that already own: "Great, now I have to replace the taillights (and possibly the trunk like the e90 M3)."
Non-Enthusiasts that have one on order: "I'm changing/canceling/delaying my order!"

Here is a bit of advice, just like when buying a computer or cellphone, within a year or so, your BMW will be out-dated, no matter what. It could be a LCI, it could be an updated Nav System, it could be new features or packages, an entire new car, new engines, or just new paint colors or special editions. BMW wants it to bother you, they want you to run out and trade in your current car, they want you to stay in debt forever. Get over it and enjoy your car. I'm still enjoying my 2003 e46 330i ZHP 6MT after nearly 9 years, its been paid off for 5 years, my 401k and IRA balances are more important to me than driving "the latest" BMW 3er.

Yeah, but not everyone enjoys rolling in a car based on 17-year-old technology and styling. Different strokes for different folks.

I have no doubt that the rumored output will be higher and the efficiency will improve, but the power delivery is something that I am very worried about for these new engines.

lol

This happens with every model at every facelift and new model introduction. Surly/hopefully this is more of a "human" thing and not just a BMW owner issue, or maybe just a US issue, we are born into consumerism, always spending, always wanting. Not that I don't consume, spend or want, but I do often step back and just enjoy the things I currently have.

And not everyone cares to loose 10's of thousands of dollars every 3-5 years in depreciation. I see you have an active hybrid, I've been itching for an i3, but I only spend about $800 a year in fuel, lets just round that up to $1000. It doesn't make any sense to spend $55,500 on a new i3 to save $1000 a year in fuel. Until BMW makes something I can't live without, I'll just keep driving my old ZHP.

Not looking bad for almost 12 years old, since it is a face-lift I'd rather say the styling is 13 years old, not 17; still running and performing well with 17 year old technology. Last week a guy snapped his neck so hard to look at it that I hurt for him. Same day, someone in the passenger seat of a car load of people snapped a pic of it in the side mirror. I must be doing something right.

Different strokes for different folks indeed, but still, just enjoy your car, whatever it is!

Thanks, I sure hope they make an e46 sized 2GC before the 2 goes FWD. E9X and f3X/f8X just seem so big as compared to the e46.

Classic styling, I think the e9x series is still too "new" to see if they will age well, but I do think the f3X/f8X will still be great as they age. Enjoy yours as well!

Haha, thanks, they are starting to get somewhat rare, but plenty can still be found for sale online. Even if and when I do get another BMW, I'll probably just keep this one. Its real-world value has dipped well below $10k and I just don't think I could take any less for it than $10k; I'm too attached. Enjoy your 335i!
