340i exhaust valve doesn't close

On startup, the valve is closed for 1 min then it opens and remains opened regardless which driving mode I'm in

To check, I also kept the Rpm below 3k in comfort/eco pro and it still open

Is this behavior normal?

If it is able to open and close, I'd imagine that it is normal behavior. Do you have any modifications or the MPPSK?

You have two valves, are they both behaving the same? The valves have a +ve, -ve and a PWM based signal feed so it's unlikely it's wired incorrectly.

Crazy. The same thing started to happen to me a couple weeks ago. If I recall correctly, this should be the correct behavior:

Open on startup; closes after a minute. Closed in Comfort and Eco; open in Sport/Sport+.

330i here, so not quite the same but my valve is always open after cold start unless the vehicle is in motion.

I can hear it rattle when I'm driving around the underground garage as it opens/closes.

Nope just the stock exhaust

I checked with another 340i but it's a 2018

The exhaust valve is closed for 1 min on the startup then it opens then after a while driving in comfort/eco pro it closes and when driving above 3k rpm or in sport/sport+ it opens.

Driving behind 2018 340i I can see the valve closing when decelerating and opening when accelerating.

I tried to disconnect my exhaust valve on my 2018 340 but the wires on very tight and I dont want to break the clips.

Does anyone know which fuses to pull to disconnect the valves?

Your car is brand new it won't break.
I ended up unbolting the 3 10mm holding the evalve on to get a good enough grip on the clip to unclip it

As for OP,
the valve will close on cold start and open up once the car is warm

In comfort mode the valve will open when idled and open on harder acceleration. It will close on deceleration.

In sport mode there are certain times the valves close, i want to assume this is for better back pressure, but that's a WAG. Most of the time however the valve will remain open.

If you have a manual when you clutch in to shift gears the valve will close briefly until you reengage into gear. I know this because I had a very squeak valve for sometime....

For me, it's aways in the open state except for the 1 min upon startup

I don't know what to do

Can updating a module on E sys fix the problem?
If so, which module to update?

What do I have to do to get this "problem"? I'd love my valves to be closed on cold start and open at all other times.

Hahaha I know most people would love having their exhaust valve open at all time

But I like everything to work how they supposed to and check if this behavior is normal.

Thanks but with these installed my exhaust valves would be open during cold start. I would be fine with that except I'm in a condo with underground parking and the MPPSK cold start is already pretty loud.

Is there a second valve on the 340? I thought there was only one right there on the left muffler.

I too would prefer it to be open all the time except closed when I am near the house to not bother the neighbors... I'd like to tap into that wiring and take control of it, but not worth the effort

I have MPPSK which does have a second valve, stock exhaust is single valve.

Right .. thanks

I unplugged the thing and taped it for now .. I'm starting to want for a proper exhaust, but .. I would like to be able to mute it when leaving for work. The WRX with exhaust was beyond obnoxious at 0430
