I've been running state 2 since March with stock CP and TP. If I were planning on racing or tracking though I'd have one for sure.

If you plan on driving your car on a road I'd have one for sure. There are stock cars blowing CPs and you want to go stage 2 without one? I'd at least have Mike at XPH on speed dial to overnight you one when it does blow and hope it doesn't shrapnel your engine.

Anyone who insists CP on the n20 needs to be replaced has done little research on the matter. If you actually search, there are very few reports of the stock CP failing. The myth that the stock CP on the n20 is prone to failure originates from the massive amounts of CP failures on the n54/55.

Can you find a few results of it failing? Yes. Is it likely or common? No.

Please note, the guy claiming it's going to fail...owns a 335/N55, not a 328/n20. Unless he decided to downgrade to a 328 and forgot to update his sig and profile.

For some anecdotal perspective, I've had my stock CP with my e60 tune at 21lbs of boost for about 10 track days, 100+ miles a day for 30k+ miles and it's been perfectly fine. I beat the shit of this car.

Actually N20s are known to not blow CPs easily. Not sure about Stage 2 though.

I still went the safe route and got a CP for mine.

I’ve not seen anyone on this forum running N20/N26 report a blown CP with stage 2 or less. I bought into the hype and feel like I wasted my money.
