Well he also asked if the software/maps evolve, and they do. That's all i was clarifying. You provided a single "no", which can easily be interpreted as meaning the maps are never updated, since he did ask that question. Just making sure he understands that there are sometimes new maps when the application is updated, albeit not every time.

But yeah, you never need to update just because there is a new map version. Don't fix what's not broken, right?

But he was also the person who seemed to have a lot of complains/XHP issues, so might be worth him getting the newest version.

correct

btw, you did remind me to go update which I just did lol. I think there were 2 updates in 2020 for my car, all of which were tweaks in blips and downshifting etc.

the x3.. 0 updates in 2020 and zero in 2021

Some news, for some time I have been in stage 2 thanks to the advice here, XHP has changed the way I drive and when I want to overtake or get into a fast lane, without making the engine scream too much, I simply put the gear lever in Sport mode, then switch it back to D mode, stage 2 is fast without being too sluggish.
In short, I stopped complaining to use and amortize the cost of purchasing the software, it's pretty good with these small display options or the gearshift limit.
Good day XHP FlashTool users
NB: their after sales service was present and very friendly, in particular by explaining to me how to make the best use of their software with my "idea of the car" (which is specific to each one)

Do a deep dive search on the F30Post and 2Addicts forums. You'll find that most people have had great long term results with the XHP Transmission Flash. Not many horror stories out there by users. I'm running Stage 3 map and love every bit of it! I'd put it just below an ECU Tune + Down Pipe in terms of best bang for your buck performance mods. You won't be disappointed, especially if you already have an ECU tune! In Sport/Sport+, upshifts crack like a whip and are very fast. Downshifts are smooth and have very pleasing aggressive throttle blips. No change from OEM settings in Comfort/Eco. XHP makes the ZF 8HP transmission very engaging and fun
So you'd reco XHP over an intake? I have FBO w/ BM3 Stage 2 except an upgraded intake. Not sure if they're worth the money.

Question

hello,

has anyone here ever used the new "shiftmap" feature with their presets?

it tempts me to test the "relaxed +" mode to see if with my gasoline car, I can find the pleasure of driving like big diesel "all on the couple" (like the 330d for example)

Intake for bolt on power gains, no. If you want lots of sound, sure, but make sure you get a good intake that doesn't have side effects. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1765289

XHP is fantanstic icing on the cake once you have FBO+tune. Stage 3 is perfectly fine for a DD and I highly recommend it.

Never heard of this, are you talking about a "relaxed" map or custom settings? Can you post a screenshot?

they just updated the interface and have preset shift mapping now where you can pick from 5 maps. two comfort soft maps and two aggressive maps and one normal one along with slots for custom maps.you can adjust both "drive" and "sport" maps.

All is said

I just chose the "RELAXED" card and I don't see any real difference (I don't have aggressive driving on weekdays because a lot of people on the road)

Well... I come home from work (70 kilometers) and this time I see the difference in MODE D with the "relaxed" card, it is quite pleasant that the report goes to 2900rpm instead of 3500.
it's cool

Cool thanks for posting. I'm tempting to not even touch mine since i am perfectly happy with how everything behaves right now lol. I'll check the manual and see if they have any additional documentation on this or pull up the app. I guess my main question is where the map i am currently running falls on this scale, like is is "normal" so that relaxed would be more conservative and sportive more aggressive?

Are these options for each stage or does this somehow replace the stages?

You can only choose for the MODE D and MODE S phases

From there you have the choices (above) and by clicking again on the wrench / screwdriver icon you can see the offset values (in%) up the gear ratios and down the gear ratios.

The values in relaxed D mode are -15 / -12 / -10% etc ... The ratios therefore change earlier but just as quickly and smoothly.

once the gear lever is in Sport mode (pulled to the left) the gearshift returns to rage mode, it's frankly very good (tested again this morning)

I will now pay attention to my gas mileage to see if that can make a difference.

The primary purpose of an intake is to add more noise. I don't know why people started including it in an FBO list. It shouldn't be. Any tiny performance gain (<5% and that's being generous) from an intake can easily be had with a free flow drop in filter from aFe or K&N.

Ah so it sounds like these new modes just change the shiftpoints, they dont actually change the shift behavior. So its like some new preset maps to increase or decrease the shift RPM.

Yes, I drove 70 kilometers again last night: City / Highways and Country roads, in the city the change is radically felt at the start of a red light, foot a little heavy on the accelerator: the gear ratios shift earlier and there is a slight audible scrape of gas (very nice) On highways, I tend to say that it takes more pressure on the accelerator for the car to downshift, overall the map "relaxed" in Mode -D is satisfactory (0 fuel economy for the moment)

so the bm3 flash just removes the tq limits and improves shifting a little. xhp is on a whole different level and it even recommended for fbo and upgraded turbo cars by PTF the guys that make bm3

I can vouch for this. Halim highly suggested to me xHP when I was beta testing the stage 2+ E30 map over the BM3 transmission one.
