NY inspection issue
I've try to get an inspection but for some
Reason I keep getting this message above ! Once connected to OBD and hit yes to continue it brings me back to the same message . I have no tune . I took the car to dealer where i bought it from about 2 months ago and they say they never saw this message before. Can anybody help? |

The message says that the data isn't as expected. That doesn't mean that it's an automatic fail, it means that it's not an automatic pass. Click 'Yes', find out what the issue is and have it checked out.

Well, just speculation here, but it may be possible that the car being from Canada is a factor. There's multiple different software versions/levels even if the "tune" is effectively the same, so if they are doing a check similar to the CalID CVN checks, maybe its not recognizing whatever it came with from Canada. I'm also in the boat of just click yes, and the dealer should be responsible for making it pass... in California you can even sell a car without making sure it will pass emissions.

NY inspector here. I plug in 5+ cars a day for the last 15+ years. Have never seen this message.
Does the registration sticker have the same VIN as the vehicle itself? The machine will flag inspections if the PCM vin does not match what was scanned with the bar code reader. Also what about the door jam vin sticker...Does that match also? Sometimes if you can't get the registration on the windshield to scan, you can scan the barcode on the door jam sticker. |

Quick question...and forgive me ahead of time if it is an ignorant one, my state doesn't do inspections so I have no idea how the process works.
Are you getting it connected to the same machine every time you get this error? If so, it could be an issue with that particular one's hardware/software, maybe taking it to a different one would fix the problem. Like I said, if that makes no sense or is dumber than hell, just ignore me and move on.
