"HPFP Crashing" Explained

"HPFP Crashing" is becoming a trigger word for B58 owners but luckily it's something that can be identified in logs and is typically fixed pretty easily. Check out the video for the lowdown.

Does anyone know how much boost stage 2+ OTS maps usually run? Both MHD and bm3?

I think it's 19 pounds, stage one is 17.2 psi

yes you should always try to optimize boost control for the best performance and safety

it's a monitor for the hpfp piston travel. it doesn't control pressure or flow.

the travel of the piston is fixed by the cam lobe .
the electrical connection to the hpfp is actually a fuel quantity valve .
if its just a monitor , how is pressure regulated within the rail ?

Guess I should specify it's correlating the piston stroke with fuel supply. The pressure sensor is on the rail. #2 on the diagram

Edit: Ok I'm seeing what you're referring too. What I was trying to clarify was that people thought it was the fuel pressure sensor and that's not the case. I'll add some clarification to the video.

to me its still a closed loop
with the pressure sensor reading the pressure
and the dme controlling the valve on the hpfp
trying to maintain the required pressure in the tune .

whenever your see dips in your logs logs , the valve is at duty cycle 100
and no more fuel can be supplied to the rail in order to maintain the pressure
therefore you will need an upgraded hpfp with a bigger piston .

right, and my understanding was that it is monitoring flow not controlling flow. so i'll need to add some clarification in the video

I made a new video to clarify things
