Always-on fuse?

Hi guys,

Sorry to revive an old thread. I've followed all of the instructions in the OP by smithf80 to wire my DR750S-2CH + Power MagicPro. But for some reason, the PMP stops getting power (the LED on it turns off and the dashcam itself also turns off) within a few minutes after the engine is turned off. Everything seems to work fine with the engine running though.

I've also tried the entire column of fuses where 161 is located and none of them seem to stay live for more than a few minutes after ignition is switched off. Any ideas? Did they change the fuse configurations for the LCI cars?

Thanks in advance!

Got it resolved. Turns out the problem was that I had the PMP set to shut off at 12.5V and fuse 161 wasn't supplying that voltage without ignition. Changed the setting on the PMP to 12V and everything works fine now. Only thing left to figure out is if I should be concerned that the fuse drops below 12.5V without ignition.

Cheers!

Hardwiring dashcam in rear fusebox 4 series F32 F36

Anyone with experience hardwiring a dashcam using the 4 series fusebox in the trunk..?
I have installed a Mini9606 dual channel cam and hardwire kit with parking guard and batt drain protection.
I have routed the hw power cable together with the rear cam cable to back of my F32LCI, and am struggling tapping power from the rear fusebox.
Issue I have is that the cam switches off on ignition off and start/stop, and can't get parking guard mode to work..

Tried various fuses, and direct battery connection , but can't get it to work properly.
Anyone who can advise how to properly wire the hardwirekit to the rear fusebox on 4-series...?

Is there a voltage setting on your parking guard? Sounds like you might be having the same issue I had with the PMP from blackvue. Read my update from 3 posts up and see if that helps.

post picture of your current wire setup for the fusebox in the trunk. also make sure wires are secured properly.

Im using a Blackvue magic box pro with the exact same set up and it doesn't seem to be working for me. My set up is exactly as OP except for ground.

For the BATT+ you'll use an add a fuse on fuse #161.
For ACC+ you'll use an add a fuse on fuse #143
For ground you'll just attach to the bolt on the car's where 3G connection receiver WOULD be.

The magic box is not getting power to it and thus the webcam does not have power either. The fuses still have power as my tail light / accessories are still working. Could it not be grounded properly? I plugged the blackvue back into the cigarette lighter and it is working fine so I'm not sure why the fuses arent supplying power correctly..

make sure your fuse is not blown. Also try to move ground to a different location by the battery and see if that help.

Got this sorted in my G20 so hopefully it will help others:

BATT to fuse #29
ACC to fuse #59
Ground to any metal chassis around the fusebox (there's an M10 bolt right beside the front right fusebox)

I've seen many Power Magic Pro's be DOA. Did an install on a friends X3 and his PMP was DOA.

Bumping this thread as I’m hardwiring a BlackVue Battery (130) in the trunk of my 2018 328d.

Seems I need to use one of the 10A, and I have two options:
1: The one that goes on and off with the ignition, but is tied to engine things
2: The other one stays on for 6-10 minutes after you turn the car off and drains your car battery

Does this sound accurate to the situation?
Anyone else here running a battery in the trunk and have experience to share?

Thanks!

There are many options to tap into. Does your dashcam have parking mode and use a 3 wire harness? The fuses the OP stated in the 1st post should work. My 2015 435i has a very similar fuse box. This is how I setup my dashcam with 3 wire kit. I did not use the extra battery protector thingamajig. Pic is from OP.

Dumbfounded on this one. I feel like I took the right route with this but I'm getting nothing from the camera whether or not the car is on. My car is a 2018 F36 440i gran coupe. Parking mode and whatever else appear to be right with the camera too. I've tried every setting on the hardwire kit to no avail. I have:

A119 V3

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07JQ1JYPJ...roduct_details

BATT+ I used an add a 5A fuse on 20A fuse #161.

ACC+ I used an add a 5A fuse on 5A fuse #143

It works fine with the cig lighter but not with the hardwire kit.

A couple of checks to do…..

Have you made sure your ground is attached to the bodywork which is non painted?
When adding the fuse taps do you have these the correct way round so that the live side of the fuse goes up and through the fuse? As per the below?

Meaning of the hard to read fuse pictograms

Giving back to the group (6 years of Blackvue ownering)

My printed copies of the earlier posted fuse diagrams are a tad hard to interpret. THis hand site explains what all the pictograms mean:
