road top wireless CarPlay

Has anyone installed this?
Road Top Wireless Carplay & Android Auto, 10.25 Inch Car Stereo Receiver for BMW 3 4 Series F30/F31/F32/F33/F34/F35/F36 with NBT System 2013-2015 Years, Car Touchscreen Multimedia Radio Receiver https://a.co/d/5yjzawy

Have an old 2015 328i, driving by my kid ( in college now), want to buy this as holiday gift. Wondering how easy it is to install.

it’s basically the same as this - https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1794076

and the install is like any other screen replacement. take the dash trim off, unscrew the HU & screen and replace. it’s an easy install.

Easy install. The listing on amazon doesn't seem to specify the cpu, Ram etc. And the screen resolution is low.
The RoadTop website has better models for a bit more. I installed a 662/8/128/A13 recently on my f30 and it works a treat.

I have it, works great. The only thing I don’t do is use the aux audio source to play music through the CarPlay box, the audio quality is horrible. So I suggest using the iDrive bluetooth with the CarPlay active.

OK, spent 2 hours this morning, still have not finished yet, issues I faced so far:
1. taking out those cables taking forever, maybe it simply got stuck after those years, and I was afraid to break them;
2. remove optical cable was difficult at first, then after watching some youtube, realized there is a click I need push;
3. now trying to get new screen mounted, had some difficult to push cable in (its too short), taking a break

This shows I am not handyman material. haha

Glad to hear positive experience from everyone for this brand.

This unit has 1280x480 resolution, road top url: https://roadtop.com/products/linux-s...43638195257587

Do you have to do any coding to get the new screen to work or is it plug and play?

Plug and play.

Hard part was getting wires organized, plug/unplug

So one issue I found after putting everything back: only right side speaker has sound when playing from phone; when switch to manufacture radio, both sides have sound.

What could be the issue?

Generally just a loose connection. Wiggle things around and see if it works.

thanks, spent another hour to remove everything, found out loose connection is power connector to head unit, put everything back, now sound works on both sides.

I hope I do not have to go through this again. Working in tight space is not fun.

I installed the display today and like others mentioned, the hardest part is fitting all the cords back in there so that the radio and vent trim will fit back on.

I was going to get it on Amazon, but the roadtop website has it for only $229, which is $80 cheaper than Amazon.

Works and looks great!
