Drivetrain Malfunction w/ JB4 stg 1 & injen CAI
Need help here guys, I recently installed JB4 stg1 & injen. Performance feels better. Yesterday, I floored the rev to 6000 in 3rd I believe and the car just went limp and said drivetrain malfunction - power output limit reached.
I'm wondering has this happened to anyone!? I have been revving it since the install a week ago and it was fine until yesterday. Was it just a misfire or what? |

So far so good after Terry told me not to connect the blue solenoid wire on the stage 1.
Today the CEL actually lit up under comfort mode when I was holding a gear going uphill. I am wondering what could cause that. Can anyone jump in with your experience? Do I need a CP when I only hv stage 1 and an intake?! |

You would need a CP if your OEM one has cracked. Opinions will vary about the need of a CP.

First thing I would do is connect your laptop to the JB4 and read the code your car is throwing. Open your JB4 performance tuner app, click file connect then go to the settings tab. Choose to read DME codes.
If you haven't already installed the app, you can get it from here http://www.n54tech.com/flash_files/jb4_interface.zip Also, read this thread (it gives you a good general understanding of the JB4 for the F series): http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18588 |

If it's a stage 1 then it wouldn't have the connector on the box. Only stage 2 comes with the ability to connect to a laptop (assuming you purchased the connector from BMS)

Have you resolved this issue? I have an Ingen CAI. I have driven about 5k miles and have not had any issues. I'm thinking about purchasing the BMS stage 1, i'm concerned I may run into a similar issue.

I do have an Injen CAI with the JB4, no issues with mine. I only have Drivetrain Malfunctions when I disconnect my MAF sensor for some reason otherwise no issues. Hope this helps.
