Opinion thread!

So I plan on changing my stock F30 grill that has the chrome outline to an all black M3 replica grill without the M badge. My car is jet black and the goal is to get a black on black look all around. I personally don't care what anyone thinks and am going to modify it regardless. Just curious what people's opinions are on this I know there are a select few out there that like to hate (not on this forum so much just in general) that if it's not a true M car why would I be a "poser" and modify it to look like one.

Just kidding. So you want to go with black grills? Lots of people have done this including myself. Looks good.

An opinion thread, but you "don't care what anyone thinks" - maybe you should re-title the thread. I don't care what you do to your car. I prefer the chrome accent surround on the front grill, but I've been driving 2002s for >38 years & that grill is familiar. I wish the dark wheel fad would die - they just look dirty to me, no matter how expensive they are.
Have fun with it!

This is your car and your decision is the only one that counts. Just have fun during and after the modification process.

Yea specifically the M3 styling I like that look over the standard grill. It's a relatively cheap mod I'm looking forward to accomplish in the very near future.

Yea I don't care but I'm curious if that makes any sense at all lol. I like the look of chrome even as my car looks now I think it looks great it just doesn't match up with my end goal of how I want it to look eventually.

I guess you don't care for this:

999 out of 1000 people who see your car wouldn't know an M from Adam, and the opinion of that one person in a thousand only matters if it's you.

My car came with a black grill--It is a sporty version I believe with the slats angled. To me this looks so much better than the chrome on a black car. Go for it.

Nah it wouldn't matter but I'm just a curious person. But that grill... very different and unique never seen a BMW with something like that. Not my cup of tea though personally.

IIRC, someone change the grill as pointed out by Billfiz because they wanted to reduce the risk of rocks hitting the radiators.

That was the main reason why I did mine, but I also prefer the look. The radiator and AC coils on cars with the stock grille are prone to rock damage, LCI added an additional shield over the coils.

I was concerned with that as well but oh well I guess. I can already see a few lodged in mine already

LOL! I know that's right. Black wheels look like somebody picked up a rough set of wheels from a junkyard, rattle-can painted them black to make them look semi-presentable and slapped them on the car. To me, the thought process is "This'll do 'till I can afford something shiny". But...that's just me.

If you change your grille put some black mesh on the back of the slats to add rock protection. https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Pla...%2C189&sr=8-10

Do whatever makes you feel good about Your car. Honestly, too many people jump on others for the changes they have made. Who cares? You just have to like it! I like a lot of black too.

That's the plan! I've noticed the people who are so quick to judge someone's car don't even have a car or are driving some POS from 1990...

OK, that's cool looking, but if you drive at night it's also insane.

I like the look but would be concerned about the loss of illumination at night due to the tint. Maybe we can get headlight covers that darken during the day and lighten at night like those “transition” lenses you can get for glasses!

I'm just curious and I'm not looking for approval if I'm saying I'm going to do it regardless.
