I completed this brake upgrade on my 328i. This set up fits under the base 17" rims. You WILL need 335 parking brake shoes/hardware to use your parking brake with the rear 335 rotors.

I'll be posting a walk through with pics. Here's a sneak peek

Are you sure they will fit the base 17s? I was told by several people you have to have 18s. In your pic you have 18s.

Several people you listened to are wrong, that is, if we are talking about the same brake set up. What I retrofitted to my '12 328 was the standard F30 335 brakes. I found several 335 owners who said they could fit 17" snow wheels over their brakes, so I figured, why wouldn't the base 17" style 393 wheels fit??

Yes, I have 18" on in the pic, but for shits 'n giggles I put the base 393 17"s on first and took a few pics to settle the fitment question without doubt

They fit, with plenty of clearance. See pics, these clearance pics are with the base 17" 393s (shown in first pic).

2nd pic is 335 front rotor/caliper on 328.

3rd is top of caliper clearance to 393.

4th is bottom clearance

5th is side of caliper/wheel clearance

I didn't bother testing the rears because there is a lot more clearance there, the rears are a non issue...

PS- I bet a lot of 335 owners just think you need 18" wheels to clear the 335 brakes because I think ALL 335s come with 18" wheels standard. ALSO, if you look at the inside of 393 wheels, the inner wheel areas are shaped in such a way as to provide max caliper clearance, and the "spokes" are relatively flat, also providing pretty decent caliper clearance. Maybe 335 folks tried to go to a non-OEM 17" wheel and had clearance issues...dunno...but the 393 fit for sure.

DAYUM!!!! That's awesome. Now I know what my next upgrade is. Just shows to not believe what you read all the time unless it can be proven. I literally did not buys these listed after talking to a few saying the stock 17s wont work and I had no real way to verify. Thanks!!!

No problem, go for it! glad I could help. Just make sure you get front 335 dust shields and I'd go with SS lines. I couldn't figure out how to swap the rear shields w/o taking off the rear wheel bearing/carriers but the 328i shields are large enough in the rear. And you'll need to source 335 e-brake shoes, shoe adjusters, and hardware if you want an e-brake after the swap (335's are bigger). The 328i pad indicators are also plug and play with the OEM 335 pads

I don't have braking distances to compare but the brakes feel much better/stronger after the swap, easier to modulate, more feel. Hard to tell what did what as the lines help I'm sure and the M wheels/tires are a big help also.

I also weighed everything during the swap to compare and the 335 front calipers are much lighter than the 328 stockers. Believe it or not the front 18" 441 M wheels/bridgestones weigh the same as the base 17" 393s/Pirellis (the rears are a little heavier though due to increased width). Be advised that The 335 standard OEM rotors are a couple of pounds heavier than the 328 OEM rotors (I want to say 2-3 lbs, but have to look at my notes). Overall, I'm OK trading off the increased weight for the bigger brakes. Rotors act like heavy flywheels so ideally you don't want to add weight there. Eventually I'll swap the OEM 335 rotors hopefully for some lighter weight ones.

If you REALLY want to do this mod right and 0-60 times ARE a major concern I'd go with some lighter weight performance rotors (if they're available) but for what 335 folks are selling all this stuff for its a dirt cheap big brake kit.

I'm still looking into this. I contacted my SA at the dealer, and they seem to think that no coding is needed. I don't know if this is "true" or correct though, that was just the SA. Sometimes when I'm there you need to talk to some of the mechanics, they would know better. On the other hand, I have looked around here and seem to think there is a brake menu somewhere in the ECU coding for rotor diameter. I could swear I came across a screenshot somewhere in the coding forum here. This might make sense for coding a 335 chassis compared to a 328, or coding for the bmw Performance brakes on either. The coding likely influences TC or ABS?

I have a professional mechanic friend that recently purchased a very expensive scantool or computer set up for the current bmws for diagnostics and whatnot. I wish I had more detail on it, but he said it was ridiculously expensive (he works in a "pro" indy shop specializing in foreign cars). My plan is to research/identify the brake menu/table and maybe have him take a look. He said he wouldn't mind doing that, but I think he needs to know where to go in the menus. It probably is as easy as changing the rotor diameter values in a braking table.

Alternatively I plan on building the OBD2-rj45 cable and jumping into E-sys/coding, I'm sure I can figure it out with enough time, but I'm not there yet. I need to get the parking brake functional, have the 335 parts so hopefully this weekend. The coding issue will follow. Will post up something when I have the info.

I can say that you can do the physical parts with no mandatory coding without any adverse effects or CELs. To my understanding, the master cylinder is the same on 328i vs. 335 and proportioning is also the same (could be wrong, but I think they are the same.) I doubt changing the rotor diameter values is going to influence the TC/ABS in any big way, but that is just my $.02. I will get it done though as I'm the type to think if the factory designed the table, its gotta be for something...

Unfortunately the swap for the rear ebrake was not as simple as I thought it was going to be. Rather than continue to jack this thread (sorry OP) I'll just point you here for fitment information:
