F30 Climate Control repair or replacement?

I have some issues with the buttons on my climate control which I think the previous owner caused by a cigarette. The dealership I bought it said they would try and repair it but not it's started to peel as you can see on the image.

Does anyone know if its possible to buy replacement buttons or whether I have to buy a full unit? I know I can buy a used one for anywhere between £40-100 but can't find buttons.

Also if I was to replace the unit does anyone know if it's a straight swap?

I've only found the entire piece available. I tore up the felt lining the CD slot with a phone holder and it looks bad but not worth $150 or whatever it was.

Why didn't you ask the dealership to repair it before you purchased the car?

eBay or AliExpress has several options for buttons or knobs.
