Upgraded 2022 BMW M135i xDrive

Gets a couple of upgrades, mainly suspension tweaks. And a few more colours to choose from..........

https://evo.co.uk/bmw/m135i/204276/u...eature-crucial

No change to engine or power output.

I always wondered if they bring out hot "M140i xdrive" to rival the A45s and RS3, but it appears not, so far.........

I'm obviously not hooning mine as I should do as I cannot say that I have tested my chassis and suspension to the point of thinking "you know what, I think what it needs is..."...

It can feel a little bobbly on occasion, but then the roads I am driving it on are a little bobbly... To be honest, swapping mine onto Michelin PS4 tyres made a lot of positive difference... I cannot believe that it comes as standard on the more general purpose tyres...

I'd certainly be interested in driving one of the new ones to see what the changes are like...

It does drive differently to the FWD Golf I had, and also the F30 RWD before... Hard to put my finger on it but now I am getting used to the difference I am not noticing it as much as I am "ahead" of the car, rather than reacting to it... I think it rewards smoothness more than than the point and squirt Golf did...

How does the 4WD Golf differ in the way to feels to drive then the FWD Golf, have you driven both..?

I only FWD Golf I drove was a basic diesel loaner - so not quite a comparison against an R with its standard suspension!

Not driven a GTI or TCR etc..... I should imagine it would be similar - but lighter and more nimble....

Any news on when yours might be due..?

The FWD GTI kind of tugs you out of tight bends with the electronic diff sorting out a lot of the drama... so it can be a little point and squirt... and it rewards a slower in and wider entry, straightening the exit where you can gas it...

The 4WD BMW feels different to that, and I had to get used to a subtle change in lines on the same roads... Because the balance of the 4WD varies I find it rewards being smooth, so you don't get sudden charges... I mean, obviously the Golf rewarded smoothness, also, but I feel it all happens a little differently in the BMW...

The BMW feels planted and you can feel the extra grunt when you accelerate on low throttle settings...

I ought to go have a drive of a Golf R sometime to compare...

Well... Considering that, in my humble opinion, it is the best looking car in class, that's a good thing...

(but I would say that, wouldn't I... )...

I honestly don't see what is significantly wrong with the car in some people's eyes (although I accept that each is entitled to their own opinion)... There are far worse looking BMW's, let along worse looking cars from other manufacturers...

What car, in class, is better looking (inside and out)...??

How about some of the old M colours from the individual list... Daytona Violet, maybe... Nogaro Silver...

Or, and this is a favourite of mine, Macau Blue...

I wanted my E30 M3 (back in the day) in Macau Blue but I could not afford and Evolution car and they were the only ones in that colour... Mine was Diamond Black with a grey check cloth interior...

The last the dealer said was the unconfirmed build date was moved to December. So even if it was built then (which I don't think it will be) I wouldn't see it until Jan.

I honestly don't think I'll get it until April next year. Then that will be a year from when I ordered it.

TRL had one the other day in San Remo Green. Really caught the eye. That with cognac leather would be a very smart combination.

It's got a lovely interior, I will give you that, but the front end is attrocious.

Personally I think it's probably the ugliest car in its class, the Golf GTi/S3/A35/Focus ST/Mégane RS are all much better looking cars imo.

Saw that, did think it looked better than on the 4 series. Shame no Cognac option unless you can individual the interior now too.

I did jump on the configurator when I saw it and was disappointed to see no cognac option. Not even available on the individual from what I could see. Same as that would be a nice combo!

That's the one! Looks even better in those pics. Really suits the car. Nicest M135i I've seen.

It would be a strange world indeed if we all had the same tastes in life...

But I do take great umbrage that you think the front end of the A Class (well, the A Class in general) is nicer than the BMW...

I can get where Audi have gone with he styling of the A3, but it seems ancient and safe to me now, design-wise... The Golf I thought was better as the Mk7.5 over the 8, and again seems quite safe, but less so than the Audi... The new Focus is OK... and I cannot picture the Megane but, to be fair, many looking at the BMW/Audi/Mercedes offerings may not be looking at the Fords and Renaults... or Hyundai's...

The BMW 1-er (all models) seems modern and fresh to me in a way that the others don't...

I think I saw that... or at least I have seen another in a dark metallic green.. and, yes, it looked very smart indeed...

I wonder how much extra you pay for "individual" colour... Got to be a few thousand, right...? Seems a luxury on a 40k car...

I think the Golf 7.5 was probably the high watermark...the mk8 looks like a mk7 that's been left out in the sun too long and has partially melted, and the interior is a step back both in design and quality IMO.

Of the current bunch, I'd probably take the 1er as well as I quite like the exterior and the interior is miles above anything else (although A Class probably close).

£3,300 for many of them I think! At almost 10% of the list price it's an expensive option for sure!

WTF!
And you won't get any of that (or very little) back when you come to trade it in.

Nope! And depending on the colour some will likely be harder to sell given not everyone likes more out there looks!

Mine's an individual, messing metallic, but was a demonstrator so came with the individual paint and every other option at the time ticked.

Gotta be a long term keeper if you're shelling out £3k+ for paint!
