Downpipe f30 335i

Would I need a tune/flash tune if I install a cat less Downpipe. I know I need one but could I still install the dp and drive it for a little till I get my tune.

The DP will throw a CEL. The tune will clear that CEL. It would be best to get them at the same time, or the tune shortly after the DP.

Some tunes require the DP though.

No, you don’t need a tune to have a catless dp. I currently have that setup now. You’ll get a slight increase in power and exhaust noise, but you’ll have an engine light on all the time.

You will get a CEL without a flash tune. Car will run just fine even with the CEL so you can ignore if you wish.

The best option would be to get a tune + downpipe at the same time, i know a vendor that offers combo deals

If you get a tune make sure you get an aftermarket charge pipe first. You’ll blow the stock plastic charge pipe if you don’t. Ask me how I know. It took all of 30 minutes to blow the factory one up after installing a JB4.

Or you can do the tried and true "electrical tape over the CEL" method!

Umm, stick a piece of black electrical tape over the CEL so you don't see it.
