Anyone on here from Aberdeen/Dundee, or anywhere in between, that would be able to code enhanced Bluetooth for me? I think I need it to view text messages on idrive screen? Obviously a few beers in it! PM if you prefer. Cheers

With some phones and additional apps, other things too, like WhatsApp and email messages

Hi I'm not that familiar with this whole coding subject matter, therefore I hope you don't mind me asking you some questions.

I have a GC 430XD on order, what benefits would I gain from having some coding applied?

I have no folding mirrors, mainly just went for the stock with MSport+ package.

Unfortunately its not possible to code folding mirrors, as they have different internals, with motors. Retrofit is only option and that is many many £££s. There are a few threads on coding, but enhanced Bluetooth seems the most popular 'mod' as BMW charge a few hundred for EBT, even though in many cases the hardware (with the exception of a passenger phone mic) is there to do it. You can also code in various changes to car settings (dash displays, lights, doors etc).

Teaston prepared a great guide on coding EBT and I run a windows laptop in any case, so I'm actually just thinking I'd be better off buying my own cable and software and doing it myself. I can then re code to save any problems when the car is in for service etc

Thanks, I'm trying to get my head round this subject, not sure what features I would want to consider coding.

Does the coding affect the warranty.

I have the professional BMW with the HK, does this mean it will have the enhanced BT...

My car isn't due till the end of Jan as its still to be built, so will try gather some info before considering.

Coding alters parameters inside the various control modules in the car. It allows you to customise settings you normally wouldn't have access to, from something as simple as the number of flashes on a single flick of the indicator to modyfing beam pattern on adaptive led. You can also activate options, such as EBT which may not be part of your original order.

For the most part, coding, when done propely, is virtually undetectable by the dealer and does not effect your warranty.

Newbie disclaimer....... Is EBT the same as Apple car p!ay? I've got a 2018 f30 and I was looking to get car play for texts etc but reading other posts it seems that I'd need a WiFi ariel .... Saw this post about EBT and get to g texts etc so I'd be interested in that

No, Apple Car Play (requires activation FSE code) and EBT (no code required) are two different things but if you just want to get text messages on the display then EBT should be enough. No WIFI antenna required for EBT.

I have apple car play on my F30 and it reads the messages out to you. Does EBT show the message/whatsapp text on the i drive screen?

I have an Android phone and EBT will show text messages on the iDrive screen but with an additional app you can get it to display any messages like WhatsApp, Facebook, email etc...

Will probably code EBT at some point then. It's actually quite annoying that apple car play only reads the message out, especially since text messages are usually full of broken or abbreviated words

The EBT will only normally show text messages. I use THIS APP and you can push any notification from WhatsApp, Facebook, GMail etc.
