JB4 stage 2 has an option for an exhuast flap adjustability. Otherwise just keep it in sport mode

Remove the spring between the motor and the valve. Use ss wire to hold valve in open position.

I have mine open all the time, no issues. While it it was open I unplugged it from underneath, around the exhaust. You can find YouTube on where it's exactly located.

I think there must be some regional coding differences.

If I put my 328i into sports or sports+ mode, it does not change the behavior of the exhaust flap. I have mine flashed with BM3 stage 1 and if I use diagnostics, I know the flap operates (can open and close).

Does anyone elses 328i's flap do this too?

If you have an f36, it behaves differently. Flap doesn't open automatically by switching to sport unless under load

Just wait for it to open on it's own, and then unplug the little motor that controls the flap. It's located right behind the exhaust tips. You won't get any lights on the dash or anything like that.

To be precise, it does throw a silent code. What I did was leave everything plugged in, just remove the spring with some pliers and secure the valve notch in the open position.

Must be the same for F31.

I think you can change it though so I might have a chat to the BM3 guys once I go Stage 2. I'm pretty sure it can be coded into the tune or something.

It does, hence why I specified lights on the dash not just codes generally. But yah that works too if you want to remove the spring. Lots of options OP

Fyi worked with them on this. We got closer. Right now the latest tune version for n55 we have it so that as soon as you hit the pedal the flap opens and stays open. Which is nice because it keeps the car quiet on cold starts, then once i tap the gas it opens up.

Just use Bimmercode with Bimmerlink and you can have full control over it.

Thanks... I might ping them when I get around to Stage 2

If my car is warm, and I switch to sports/sports+, valve definitely does not open up. But I know it does work due to soot build up as well as diagnostics within the BM3 app.

Same behaviour with or without BM3.
