You think +60HP and +92TQ for $2000 is expensive?

Answered earlier in the thread. After m3/m4 the x28 (4 cylinder) will be the next applications out. They are targeted as an October release but that is just the target date. A lot can happen good or bad in that amount of time to push the release forward or backward.

Seems like a very good price to me.

This is just plug and play right?

Just for reference, 8 years ago when I tuned my Legacy GT to stage 2, I probably spent close to that on an Accessport, UP, and DP to get 55+ HP and 100+TQ.

And this requires zero hardware mods whatsoever.

Yes I would. Especially when those numbers are crank not at the wheels.

thanks but after my bad experience with audi, i am never doing a bench-flash again.

if it werent for that bench-flash I would still be driving an S4 instead of this tank.

Looking forward to repeat business with Dinan as there aren't any other tunes or tuners that I'd let near my BMW's.
Why thank you kind stranger, that actually means a lot to me. Gives some credence to my insistence on having a forum presence.

The bottom line is we stand behind our products, hence the warranty, and only wish to make our customers happy with their purchases. If there is a problem you can be assured we will try everything in our power to resolve the issue.

Our goal here is simply if anyone has questions they are free to ask them and I will answer the best I can or direct you to those that can. If you are in northern California I also encourage anyone to swing by and get a brief tour at our facilities. For most it is an eye opening event and we like to show off what we have / can do.

O, and thanks for being a Dinan customer; keeps me employed. =)
I can't tell you how much goodwill you create by interacting with enthusiasts.

I hadn't been in the market for one, but I would now purchase a Dinan tune for my 2015 X3 xDrive35i- if you'd make one (and I don't think I'm alone).

If we are comparing to MPPK since it's the most like product with warranty, etc then we feel we are very much in line price wise. MPPK gives a max gain of 30-35 hp for roughly $1200. Let's even call it 45 hp to play it safe assuming it's underrated by 25% (high). Our tune has a max gain if 77 hp and 81 lb-ft of torque for $2000. Everyone can do their own math but we feel we are right in line with pricing.

Bottom line is you don't feel the value is there than you don't have to purchase it. It's up to each individual to decide what the best tuning solution is for them given the variables that are most important to them. We simply provide one such option.

JB gives same power gains for $380, same setup plug and play

HP gains are all debatable, just like your 77 hp. my point was that its not worth the money.

and you are right to each is own.

p.s. i like a lot of your products even though they are expensive

That said we have a prototype intake currently on those cars that is being field tested. Stage 2 is released when an intake and exhaust are available so it's coming sooner rather than later. We are also developing an oil cooler which would be integral to stage 3 package. There are others items planned but those are some of the ones that at least have physical versions of something produced.
will that oil cooler fit foglights versions,? i have msport but outside of USA we get only one cooler +foglights.
i think its similar to your sportlines.

Not at this time. We typically only work with the X5 and X6 for the SUV line but if we get a development vehicle it would only need a week or so to test fit and tweak since it is the same engine as the 335/435. Not a huge demand vehicle but if one happened to land in our lap then so be it. Always looking for development vehicles so if anyone wants to donate check out our website and submit the request through the development cars page.
What about the F15 x5? When can we expect the tune for that car? Please disregard my post. I kept reading and you answered my question.

A bench flash implies the ecu was taken out of the car and a physical change was made to the ecu in addition to software. Dinan software is strictly software with no soldering or anything like that done to the ecu itself.

Ugh. Fc4 this answer is for you as well. It must have been late as I mistyped earlier. The intercooler is what is being developed at the moment not the oil cooler. I Would be surprised if an oil cooler was not in the plans however. Sorry about that misinformation.

Just fyi...I am currently traveling and my reception on my phone is spotty at best so if I suddenly stop answering you will know why. I will definitely try to answer as many things as I can albeit the response may be delayed given my current status.

+ the fact is that BMW sandbags a lot of their advertised horsepower numbers to keep a spread among different price range cars.

Don't know if the MPPK number is valid or not but my 335is dynod WHP within a few of the advertised BHP rating suggesting the car was underrated by BMW.

Automobile mag did back to back tests of two N54 one N55 all factory rated at 300BHP & all 3 had different WHP numbers.

Jalopnik did an article on dinan and the I series in the past that I would point to. I would assume the same reasoning would apply to a hybrid.

Short answer is I don't see anything being developed for the hybrids.

Bmw does do a lot of detuning amongst their vehicles to meet various markets and price points. And they do tend to under rate their cars. Much more so on the big m cars (not including m235i) than say the 3 series but under rate them nonetheless. I don't think anyone is disputing that.

All numbers given for dinan tronics are based on the difference in measured stock to what our tune did on our test vehicle. We provide a graph showing exactly what we measured for both stock and with tune on each product page. The hp and torque rating given earlier in the thread is a real number not derived by including the under rated factory rating but the delta we measured from stock to tune.

Not sure why we got away from these graphs the last generation of cars but I am glad that we are back to providing this data like we did in the distant past.

Worth is debatable as well. Some people feel a warranty is a must and is incredibly worthwhile. Some people don't care and are just looking to put up the highest number on the dyno. Worth is very subjective considering what is important to that individual. We pride ourselves on drivability and a tune that safely delivers usable power and is just as fluid as a stock vehicle. Unfortunately there isn't a number to measure drivability like there is power so the only way to tell is to drive it. I would encourage anyone to reach out to their local dinan dealer and see if they have a demo vehicle available for test drives. I'm a firm believer that you don't really understand the difference till you have driven a dinan vehicle and experienced the dinan difference first hand.
