Yea, I think I’d wait for the “group buy” if at all.

All depends on many factors but we will definitely see less and less mods over time. Just the fact the car can be coded is a huge plus! Every GREAT THING in this world comes to an end so it's expected at one point or another...c'mon man, I'm usually "Captain Obvious" here and please, don't take that away from me as it's all i have left!

So what will it take to get the car to move with key as it's intended purpose?

Any part numbers?

How about just voice commands?

If BMW's going to make that Ginormous fob, why not just make an app that does all the same stuff--like Tesla?

It's a neat key. Kinda huge. I like the X5M key best

Hi all. I have been doing some research and found out this is a viable option for the f30. I reached out to a person in New York who did it. There are 2 ways to connect. Built into the system is a Bluetooth setup. You can get SIM card to increase the range for the system. But from what I know it works out of the box without the SIM cards. Apparently install is very easy. There are 2 wires themgo into the FEM module and a case to give up a key, as was the case with doing remote starts. I was concerned forking over almost $1000 to a foreign company but the person I spoke to had dealt with them for several purchases and had had no issues. Delivery after Payment takes about a week and a half. I am going to order mine this Friday.

I wonder what you are comparing to....
If you want mods and coding - go for an Audi. I come from an Audi and the mods and coding arena at BMW is just boring... a fraction of what is available for Audi (and VAG in general). Most popular "mod" for BMW - cheap, plastic, red Start/Stop button.... that says it all.

I came from Audi too. Seems about the same unless something has changed the past 6 years. It's kinda the same thing:

Intakes that look better than they perform
Body kits and S4 parts on the A4, M3/4 parts on the 3/4 series
BOV questions that get quickly killed
Upgrading old lights to new LED/HID lights

Tuning is the same though, chips, piggybacks, tunes etc, normal FI stuff, little emphasis on brakes and tires, and more on HP, exhaust sound, and whooshes (intake, BOV/DVs etc).

Disagree - plenty of coding options, many retrofits from other Audi models.

Example - my A3 is modded with a rear view camera (non-existent in any stock A3 of that generation) - all OEM. Camera and holder - from A6, LED license plate lights from A5, electronic module from R8. Coding of nav - R8.

Footwell lights in the back (non-existent in any stock A3 from that generation) - perfect fit from VW, custom-made wiring.

I have yet to see something "new" on a F3x. It is all about red start-stop buttons and original options replicas or retrofits.

Selling BMW F30 remote display key $700

If anyone still interested in buying the display key I'm selling the one that I had on my 2013 BMW 335xi. Selling the car so figured Id sell this separately. It works but it's not perfect. I suggest you look at these videos to see its capabilities, limitations and plug and play install process:
