N20 Timing chain ELW
Hi,
I got a used 2015 BMW 328i M sport six months back which has the N20 engine. After reading several forum threads, I found that BMW N20 engine have extended warranty for the timing chain. How do i find out if my car also have the ELW or affected by this faulty timing chain issue? Thanks |

Input your VIN on bmw-rp.com and scroll down on the list of ELWs for your VIN.
The cutoff date of N20/N26 ELW is 2/2015, so if your production date is 3/2015 then there will be no coverage. |

Thanks a lot. After entering my last 7 characters of my VIN, it takes me me to BMW N20 Leak Diagnosis Module. It doesn't show list of ELWs. Does this mean my car doesn't have the timing chain problem?

If the drop-down menu only shows only NVLD that TC ELW will not be on your VIN. Another way to verify TC coverage or not is to go by N02/N26 production date, if it is 3/2015 or after then there will be no TC issue(allegedly by BMWNA). |

After calling the BMW customer service, it seems like my car is eligible for Leak Diagnosis Module (10years/120K warranty).
My car production build is March 2015. So I am not sure if mine is also affected by this timing chain. I have 8 more months of original warranty now. Currently have 35K miles on it. |
