Fitting my LCI F32 tail lights (previous guides didn't work)

So I recently fitted my LCI F32 rear lights, however the guides that are out there either didn't work for me, or were back to front?!

So here is my take on it..

You'll need two of these: 61136984758 (lets call them the fat adapter)
You'll need two of these: 61138364834 (lets call this one the thin adapter)
In these adapters you'll receive some big crimp connectors looking like these:

Use these to push the wires into the fat adapter

Now, BMW for some reason only sends out big wire crimp connectors that will only fit the fat adapter, which is stupid because the thin adapter needs the mini crimp connectors that have pins on the end to make the adapter make connection in the socket. For this reason I had to solder sewing pins onto my wires going into the thin adapter, then just tape in place to make sure that for whatever reason they never drop out.

Wire's with big crimps on:

Wire's eventually with soldered sewing pins and in all connected up:

The adapter wire diagram I found online was back to front in my experience:

So what I did was the following:
Fat adapter 1 > Thin adapter 1
Fat adapter 2 > Thin adapter 2
Fat adapter 3 > Thin adapter 3
Fat adapter 4 > Thin adapter 4
Thin adapter 5 nothing/blank
Thin adapter 6 was the long wire going to REM.

Then as it wasn't clear online as to which pins I should be using to extend the indicator signal over to the inner lights (the majority suggest already had pins in) I just metered the indicator wires on the outer lights to see which they were, traced the striped colour cables back to the REM module and place a cable lock connector around the existing and new indicator wires.

Again based on my experience, these were the following:
Left indicator: black & white striped wire running into the far right plug on the REM module
Right indicator - purple & black striped wire running in the left plug on the REM module (not middle! this only controls the inner right light, we need the original source of the indicator from the outer right light)

Once I found the coloured wires on each plug I just used these cable lock connectors around the target wire and new wire creating a splice to join them (I'm sure there's alternative connectors/tools out there that do the same job):

Finally my REM module looked like this:

The outer lights are plug and play and as for coding you just need to disable cold & warm checks and enable LEDs for indicators, the brake lights, reverse and fog's which I had already done.

Have you got some on order? I seem to be hearing more and more about people saying there's a 3-4 week back order now

Do you have BMW or Tyco/TE/Acme part number as I am sure BMW part is inflated.

You can't buy the crimp connectors individually, they come packaged with your adapters, either 61136984758 or 61138364834.. they both come with plenty, however not the micro size ones for the second adapter or REM module, which is why the majority of us have had to use connectors to splice the wires at the REM module.

Search DuPont Wire Connectors. You'll need a set for each side (the fatter adapter) and then a set of micro versions for each side (thinner adapter & REM wire)

Appears 61138364834 is not the socket...but the actual crimp connector.

LCI Lights installed on my F36!!!

ProducerLawson! Just wanted to say a massive thank you for the write up. Your guide helped me install mine on my f36. Running the wire through from inner to outer light was a bit tricky (I know this will sound silly but I didn't know where the REM was so found it easier to connect to the outer light) but a straightened out coat hanger and some patience did the trick

Oh and big thanks to Cazual for the original inspiration!

I'll post some pics as soon as I've figured out how to shrink the size of em on my iPhone (new to all this :-) )

Ps: if anyone needs any help with an f36 let me know.

I can supply a plug and play loom if anyone needs one. Still needs coding though.

Yes please Shak. I've got it all sorted except the inner indicators.

Just did the coding in anticipation of getting the tails in at Christmas. A number of the bulb checks were already "not active". I did not change them from BULB to LED yet though, not sure if there's be a detrimental effect.

I must be blind because I can't find the outlet to plug the inner tails in.
