Apple music and connected drive issue

Hi all,

Asked this on the X5 forum, but theres a lot more activity on here, and it happens in our 4 series as well, so hoping someone may have a solution.

This appears to be happening in both cars, and haven't been able to find a solution.

Using Apple Music as my source of music, it tends to work fine, and the car controls can change songs etc without any real fuss.

However, on a fairly regular basis, it will not return to the track it was playing previously, when I re enter the car, but instead reverts back to the first song stored in my phone, which inevitable starts with A.

This is particularly annoying, especially if you are mid playlist or album.

Any ideas if theres a fix for this or not?

A known issue, apparently still not fixed in iOS 12.

The only "solution" for now is to get a silent song like this one a-a-a-a-a-very-good-song-silent-track

More info you can find here:

Thanks, so its Apple's issue rather than connected drive? This is what I suspected.

Crazy workaround, but kind of works I suppose.

So the solution is to play 10 minutes of silence while you scroll through the menu looking for something to listen to while not paying proper attention to the road - stunning!

And to show how dumb forum visitors can be, one of the comments in the MacRumours thread was someone being surprised that people would pay 0.99 to listen to silence and they should just turn off the car stereo
