I think it really has something to do with the additional strain caused by AC.
I had the squeak, for me it sometimes squeaks for 20-30 minutes. I tried to disable the AC and the squeaks went away, enabled it and they were back. It was a pretty hot day too. I will make a video of this but maybe you guys can try this too? |

Exact same issue on my F36 B58 8AT. I am now at 10k miles and it's happened since day one. I've just been waiting for it to get worse or a TSB to come out. Glad I'm not the only one.
It's not the tires (seriously? coming from the front of a RWD car?). It sounds like a belt or something in the trans. Only happens within a few minutes of startup, not limited to cold temps but even after the vehicle has been restarted after being warmed up. Could be computer related with clamping loads, etc. |

Has anyone on this thread ever received a confirmation if this was a belt issue, tranny problem or something else? Everytime I bring it up to dealer I get the same "can't reproduce" response as if I am making it up lol

I'm pretty sure it's the cold tires squeaking. This happens to me right after pulling away from my driveway and the tires squeak a little bit on a tight turn right after pulling away. It then squeaks on the first couple of shifts and then goes away for the rest of the day. I can very clearly hear it coming from the tires.

Revived thread. I hear the squeak from time to time not sure if it's the tensioner pulley but it happens less often now so they may have adjusted it. The mppsk may mask some of the sound.

Add me to the long list ffs. Late production 2017 and the issue is still present. I feel safer to see that i'm not alone tho. I was afraid I broke something on the car. I first thought it was a turbo spooling failure.

I can send you a video, where in one go, I will make it squeak, then turn off AC it will not squeak, turn on ac, and it will squeak once again. In fact, I will do it tomorrow. |

I too have this same noise, it is definitely not the tires I have been fighting BMW since owning the car to take ownership and figure out what is wrong and fix it. It is extremely frustrating to have BMW and the service department keep feeding you a line of crap every time you address the problem to them. I too have heard it is the tires or it’s just the exhaust, oh that’s normal. All the things I hear from the BMW service team. Now I just got back today from the service appointment because the noise is progressively getting worse, they actually this time could reproduce the noise as they claimed many times many times they couldn’t. Although they finally heard it they’re next line of crap to back me so I really couldn’t argue the case, was that the noise I am hearing is the blow-off valve releasing excess boost pressure. Now I am certainly not a mechanic but I’m so sure that is not the blow-off valve. I also have multiple videos of this I will post also. I’m hoping someone can identify this and BMW catches wind of it so they can fix it because I’m extremely annoyed with this loud screeching noise every time the car shifts itself.

My 340 is being serviced this morning. I asked them to take a look and even provided the link to this thread. Crossing fingers.

I had my aux belt replaced by my dealer because of this issue, seems to have resolved it but I'll be able to properly tell when the weather gets colder. Anyway, I noticed, when I got the car back, that the area around the AC compressor had a load of what looked like rusty spray marks. It's a dust, not a grease and wondering if anyone else has these marks, clearly it comes from the compressor:

Delivered my car to BMW service this morning to try and diagnose this issue. I got a 2016 340 as a loaner and was able to replicate the issue on that car on my drive to work this morning. They are also fixing all my creaking door seals while they are at it.

Let me know what they use with the creaking door seals. A friend of mine owns a BMW repair shop and gave me some lubricant that applies around the seals. It worked on all my windows, but some times the driver side passenger window still creaks at times. I probably lubricate the window seals once a month just to prevent it from occurring again. He also mentioned that they used some sort of clear tape at the dealer and switched to this lubricant..common issue on the F30 models.
