Also a very useful feature....if you hold down the voice commands button for about two seconds, you can actually summon Siri (for IPhone users) instead of the standard BMW system

Auto models. If you have the gear lever in sport and turn off the car. It will automatically return to the centre position and park will be applied by the gearbox. Useful if you forget as the gearbox has done it for you!

6. Rocker switch sport mode then select sport displays on i drive. 8. When music is playing use I drive controller to click left (or right depending on country). Left again and you will see 'Tone.' This may apply to no. 3 as well. |

I was all excited to get those shortcuts and then I don't even use them lol.
1 - Call Wife (just to please her, but typically I'd just say a voice command) 8 - Stop Guidance (The only one I definitely need) I guess I just don't use the technology in my car as much as I thought. Mostly I just turn on the car, make sure my music is on, and drive. The only other thing I wish I could do is set a shortcut to switch to surround view. Then I could use a button vs fumbling with the idrive controller when I'm about to back into a parking spot and it defaults to the rear view camera. |

Then hold the number of the button you’d like programmed for that feature. If you don’t highlight a specific feature, it will sometimes say could not program. |

So I threw my gym bag in my trunk the other day and closed the hatch, but then it popped right back open. I checked to make sure everything was clear of the lock, and tried again. It popped up again. I did this about 4 times until I realized my keys were in my bag. Great feature on the car not to lock your keys in your trunk.
BUT...if the car can do this, why can't it auto lock if I forget to hit the button and walk away??? |

While driving, I tried to save Sport settings and it would not accept. Any idea why?

Related to the first reply, I always have my radio on, and only push the start button once to stop the car, which leaves the radio on. Walking away from the car hearing the radio reminds me to lock the car, which turns the radio off. |

what sports settings are you referring to? a lot of options/check boxes can't be saved to a shortcut.

After you turn the car off and walk away? I would hate that. All the time, I'm in my home's garage and I need something out of the car. If I had to remember to bring my key out to the garage, or unlock the car from in the house, I'd be annoyed. That's why I park my car in the garage. If it's a setting you can toggle on/off, fine.

I have that saved to a button. When you go through the menus, before you press down on the dial to select it, but when you have it highlighted, that's when you press and hold the # button to save it. Not while it's already being displayed (at that point, you haven't highlighted any options with the cursor (since there are none on that screen), so there is nothing to save).
