Are BBS rims not popular here?

Maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but I havent really seen too many F30 owners post pics of their cars with BBS wheels.

Unfortunate, isn't it?

BBS is the premier wheel manufacturer in the world. There was a time when people who modded BMWs actually cared about what they put on their cars and a certain level of prestige was sought after. Now, these low-budget replica or Miami boutique wheels are all you see (specifically two or three styles, too) from names which have barely been around longer than the F30. What gets me is all the new fancy names they come up every week for a new style of "forged" wheel to fool more people...I think UltraHyperDiamondForged is next on the list. But, hey...perhaps I'm an old timer. I miss the days when every E36 was on BBS RCs, and E46 M3 owners were shunned for having anything less than BBS LMs.

One contributor however is the limited sizes and fitments BBS offers, even for their higher-end. If they made more fitments for these cars, I'm sure we'd see more...but that's certainly not an excuse to go from the creme of the crop to the bottom of the barrel.

Too hard to keep clean. They look nice when clean, look like poo if you don't clean them well.

@FC4 summed it up pretty much though.

Well said. The number of cars with knock-off or, "replica," wheels on this forums surprised me.

Well put FC4.

There are a handful of f30 owners here who are sporting genuine bbs wheels, but nothing compared to the e36, e46 and e90 members.

Gonna stir the pot and say it's because BBS are over priced for what you get and maybe people are starting to figure this out.

Not that I support these over night wheel companies making generic styles, but there are cheaper alternatives that over the same quality and are actually light.

You can get a set of Volks which are forged for half the cost of a set of F1's. BBS is smoking crack on some of their wheel prices.

Work Brombachers > LM's :P

Another valid point...

I was stoked when a lot of the JDM wheels... Volks, Advan, Works, etc... became available for BMW fitment/bolt pattern.
The thing with BBS is... IMO... They're the original bench mark wheel.
They're also one of the classiest looks... also IMO

I'll show some BBS love... just got these put on today. Must be only F31 lovers from Canada representing the classic look of BBS.

Fair enough...although I disagree on the overpriced part. But sure, you can get lighter and stronger wheels of equal exceptional quality for less, but there is still a significant level of heritage and style with BBS. But yes they are pricey, especially when you get into their race line.

Volk and Work are certainly up there.

Stunning. LM-Rs are some of the best wheels money can buy.

I've had two sets of BBS wheels (RX and RG-R) in my previous two cars. I didn't buy them new because the prices are outrageous. I would quite like another set for my F31, but short of breaking the piggy bank, I won't be able to justify them. If I were to get aftermarket wheels for my BMW, it'll have to be BBS or nothing. But I'm also coming around to the idea that some cars look best on their original wheels. There is nothing wrong, other than needing an extra half inch of width on the rear wheels, with my 403Ms.

Good observation OP, I've been wondering the same thing myself. Don't worry BBS are still the benchmark in my part of the woods. When I throw on my SR winter tire setup I'll snap a pic for this thread. I'm also hoping to get another set next spring with some summer rubber.

Does anyone have any pics of the CX wheels on our cars? Would love to see a real life shot before I take the plunge.

I think that's part of what stole their thunder. It used to be that only a few euro based wheel companies that supported this market. Now with the high end Japanese wheel companies stepping up, you can get beautiful wheels that are of equal quality for much less in some cases.

Granted, styling plays a role. If the multi piece wheel is your style then you are likely going to pay regardless of the company.

The knock off companies have killed their flagship designs too unfortunately. I don't even look at "LM's" anymore and wonder if real or fake, just tired of seeing them. What a shame.

I was very, very tempted to get a matching set of Volks last month for the Bimmer since I would have got a killer deal and the fitment would have been perfect. As much as I love them, though...I don't feel they look right on European cars. I like Japanese wheels on Japanese. Plus it matches the exhaust...

I also happen to like both BBS and the JDM forged wheels. Along side the F31 with LM-R's I also have an S2000 with Mugen MF10's which are forged and made by Rays Engineering which is the same as Volk Racing.

Both represent quality, unfortunately they are both very expensive which makes them somewhat rare. I suppose if you are always chasing this years style or whatever is En Vogue, you're better off with other manufacturers. If you're after timeless/classic style and quality both BBS and Rays Engineering have products that should stand the test of time.

You have excellent taste. Is that a Mugen front bumper too?

I also had an S2000 over 10 years ago now and had CE28Ns on it. Somewhat similar.
