Hatch slams closed?

Just wondering if others think that the closing of the hatch seems kind of rough with the comfort access? Would think that it would draw itself closed and then the motor would pull it shut rather than slam down? Would like to hear from there to see if I'm just paranoid.

Mine drew itself closed and then the motor pull it shut. Not slam down.

Interesting as mine seems to start to draw closed and the falls the last few inches and then draws shut.

Slams enough to rattle the license plate.

Mine closes very gently then just draws in to shut completely.
I wonder if it varies depending on how you adjust the opening height. Mine is always set to open fully to max height.

Mine closes smoothly. It's not CA, but the only difference should be where the actuator button is, on the fob or on the hatch. I assume the CA version has a button on the hatch as well. If so try it. If it slams the problem isn't related to CA.
Try closing the hatch manually. It should take a fair amount of force to push it down. If it doesn't the lift struts are suspect.

I've had three F31s that do exactly that too, sometimes more smooth than others.

I find that mine slams as well and rattles the license plate. Seem like it closes very hard. Does anyone mind posting a video of a soft close?

Mine closes quietly by button press or Fob operation.

Mine also slams i.e. it falls shut rather being drawn in. However, I don't mind it as long as it closes!

I have comfort access and I use kick action everytime. Will try closing with fob to see if it is any different. Looks like it is might be an issue with how they programmed it for comfort access.

I also have Comfort Access and it makes no difference whether I use the button on the hatch, or swinging my foot under the valance, it still closes gently.
Although closing by foot operation does give 2 audible warnings (as designed).

Both my previous F31 and my F34 closes smoothly. Same as Allan I have had them both to open all the way.

I tried a few things this weekend. I had the hatch open all the way and then closed it with (a) kick action, (b) fob, (c) lever inside the car. It closed similarly in all cases, and it was not "quiet". It slams shut for me (although not as bad as it sounds). Wonder what's going on??

I am beginning to think it is an issue related to UK vs. US builds.

Maybe you can share a video to show us how does it look/sound like?

My gut feel is that the build between UK vs US would be the same. It is our tolerance level that makes the difference

Quite possible. Although I have to admit that my Toyota SUV's hatch closes much more quietly (i.e. it is pulled in by a motor within the last inch or so), which is what I am comparing it with.

I will try to capture a video clip. Hopefully I will be able to figure out how to upload it.

Well here it is (click the links below for the short clips, sorry for poor lighting). It is a fairly loud "thud", the hatch does not slow down as it closes. Not pretty. It would help if we could figure out what's going on with some versions of this car?

Do you have "comfort access"? Perhaps this is happening with "US build" cars with "comfort access". And hopefully they will solve this issue in the upcoming versions.

I see what you mean now, mine closes then pulls shut.

Mine slams too. Not very nice when an infant is in the back seat. My expectation is that it should be a near silent operation.
