Just be glad the F30 is lighter than the e90. That's already quite an accomplishment considering each new generation of cars get more and more tech and safety equipment. |

I'm just glad the 1-er is the right size, and cheaper, to boot.

The S4 looks marginally more aggressive than the B6 version. But the BMW being compared looks much less sporty than it's predecessors. I'm kind of embarrassed that you can compare these two cars at all. It seems Audi is trying to kick it up a notch and BMW is going the wrong way.

Both very attractive looking to me. I'd take the F30 M-sport over the S4, but definitely the A4 facelift over the sports line standard BMW.
Edit: Actually, I take that back. The interior of the BMW is still better looking. Though Audi does have a better navigation system. Last edited by Nandrega; 10-27-2011 at 06:24 PM.. |

It looks like they tried to copy the A6 with headlights in the front; however, what looks hot on the a6 looks really ugly on the a4. Something about it to me just looks off. Furthermore, I cannot stand the taillights. It looks like an old person's car.

What I was trying to convey was that the S4 keeps getting a little more aggressive and sporty with each generation. To me, the F30 is less aggressive and sporty than the E90.
I stated that I was embarrassed by the comparison because the BMW 3 series has always been more sporty than the Audi 4 series. These two cars look so similar to me and quite boring. I just hope the new M3 stands apart. Without the power dome, it's going to be even harder to tell the difference between the M3 and the 330. |

honestly, i don't like either.... both styles are not aggressive and lack character. WTF happened... I love my e92... the last of a dying breed. I guess Porsche will be next for me.

I think that Audi refresh is ugly!
I actually prefer the 09-11 A4! Not the refresh! I also think that if BMW used more traditional shaped headlights for example like the f10 5 series and the f01 7 series and the new 6er... and if they chose headlights without that unique rectangle pointing to kidney grill, both cars would look very similar especially the bottom half of the bumper! I actually prefer the F30 better! That Audi interior now does look dated relative to the F30. I used to think that the A4 interior was superb but not anymore! |

The 3 series looks way nicer. The A4 looks like an old person's car from every angle except the profile. Finally the 3 series looks sporty again....but I am not impressed with the sport/luxury/modern thing. I actually think it is going to be very frustrating.
Am I going to be able to get a sport version with nice wood trim or just metal trim? Can I have a luxury version with aluminum and or just wood? When I first read about the 3 lines I thought it was a way of offering consumers more choice, but now I think it will actually mean less options...I hope I am wrong. The competitors are allowing people to basically get the exact car they want, so I wouldn't expect BMW to go the other direction. |

BMW has more character, Audio S4 isn't aggressive enough, pre-facelift was more aggresive. Both have good interiors in my opinion, except the BMW screen is much bigger which I like. I would probably stick with the 335i M-Sport.

It's funny how differently people look at things. I bought a IS350 because I thought it was the most sporty looking...yet my wife says the C-class is the only vehicle in the segment that really catches her eye. I can't wait to see an F30 up close and in person though....it's an exciting, albeit rather subtle, redesign to the series. I think a lot of people will come back (or want to come back) to BMW with the release of this version. |

IMO, both are great looking on the outside. I like the f30 interior much better. Can't wait to learn more about the engine in the new f80 m3. It will be a great daily driver if they give it 425+ lbs tq.

Back = S4 Side = F30 Interior = S4 seats, BMW console. Tranny = Audi 6MT Engine = Have never driven the S4 but the 35i is sweet...

As with all new BMWs (well spare the 5er GT & current 7er), they debut, everyone thinks they don't look quite as good as the old one, and then in person and after a little time, they all look great.
The first time I saw the F30, the front seemed off. I have to say I really like it now. Its fresh, sporty, and keeps enough of the 3er to know it's a 3er and not a 5er or some other brand while being new. I really like the E90, but I also love the E30, the E46 and the E36. Pedestrian crash requirements have hampered car design, but we're stuck with that for now. The interior looks wonderful, and after seeing it next to the A4's, it's lightyears better. And iDrive is nice to use in its current iteration. Overall, Audi is boring, and not progressive. It had a wave a few years back and now the slow revisions seem to be preserving the design without any movement forward. I also don't know any reliable Audis. Any. All German cars are at risk for something, but the current E90 is quite good overall. Let's hope the F30 follows suit and that the steering feel has been figured out with the silly electronic pump. (I know it's for the efficiency part, but I'd keep hydraulic and eat the mileage penalty...)
