In my opinion, debadging is the biggest (if not one of the biggest) sign of disrespect to your car. It represents it's identity. Have pride in your car's model whether it be a 318, 320d, 328 etc. I also consider it a very rice thing to do.

That being said, this is my first big boy engine. My prior two cars ('02 Z3 2.5 and '98 323is Coupe) have/had the lower end engine offering, and I didn't debadge them either. But I definitely ain't doing it now!

lol why does everyone always think it has anything to do with showing what engine it has or not? Just look at the exhaust placement and you know enough lol.
Seriously, it's just a cleaner look. I'd debadge a 335i just as easy =)

Doesn't really matter, as mentioned prior, the tailpipes tell the story. I just have never debaged any of mine, and probably never will. Totally agree that it's not the engine, I just don't like the look of a flat back car with a debadge. I think it looks weird, not clean. But as you said in a previous post here, the first thing that pops into people's mind for some reason is 335 vs 328. Even those of us who didn't used to think about it until we started reading web forums, it pops into the mind.

I agree, though. If you don't like the look, you shouldn't do it. It's all basically a personal feeling of how the car should look like. Same goes with all other options/mods someone does to their car.. one may like a certain set of wheels, the next person might hate it =)

I'm not going to debadge it, as I already ordered it without the badge to begin with!
Previously I've debadged my BMWs as having something that expensive is not looked well upon in DK. Didn't want people to do anything stupid to my car. All my previous BMWs have been the topmodel 3'series. This one isn't however

No I will not debadge. I will, however, ask the dealer to not put any sticker on it. I want to keep it clean, but I don't want to alter the product, and the product comes with a badge.
I think the car looks more clean with the badge. In addition, debadging let me think that you are way too much concerned about what people perception (why would you want people believe that you have a better car than you really have). Worse for debadged 335i or M, that's kind of silly understatement that means again that you put too much importance on this. Don't take me wrong, debadge cars still look good. It just look immature to me. Last edited by mobius80; 06-18-2012 at 09:14 AM.. |

Ha Ha.
BMW owners are snobs and 335 owners are snobs to 328 owners which makes them super snobs If I debadge my 328 it's for the looks and nothing else. I have a built Mustang GT if I want to go fast in a straight line and it will beat any 335s and probably most M3s.

I don't think they mind.. but you will have a pre-inspection where they will tell you what needs to be changed in order to have it ok'ed during inspection. If thye tell you they want the badge back, just super glue it

Not planning to debadge here. This might sound weird, but while a de-badged car is more symmetrical in appearance, I'm so accustomed to seeing the badging that I think the car looks odd without it (regardless of engine).
I am, however, interested in doing a "black chrome" treatment to the badge and plate frames. I think this would complement the M-Sport rear diffuser and my planned purchase of the black kidneys. |

If someone bought a 335i just because it's more expensive, then or course that's idiotic. But I don't agree that "most" bought the 335i just because it's more expensive, at least not the people on this forum. I ordered a 335i Msport with very few options. There are likely very loaded 328i's that cost more. For the record, I got the 335i because of the engine. That's not to slight the N20 328i as I nearly went for it instead. For me the price difference wasn't that much due to leasing, so I went for the higher HP. Either 3 is fantastic. And the 328i stomps it's competition easily. I'd proudly show the stock number badges or either version. Not a fan of the "line" badges, but we don't get those in the US. Last edited by RPM90; 06-18-2012 at 07:57 PM.. |

I said "a lot (mind you: not all!)", not "most" haha.. most sounds like a lot more than what I meant

I love the 328i engine and the handling on this model is so much more fun! To me the 328 represents an amazing achievement. Could have easily bought the 335 but it just didn't feel that much more powerful and the nose felt heavy after driving the 28.
So... I didn't de-badge I re-badged. Matte black 328i lettering on my Metallic Black 328i. I was over chrome a long long time ago. Black is the new Black! And I'm damn proud of that motor! |
