Teaston means the toggle control scroll wheel (with a very small stick on it). The bit you nudge to go from 50mph to 52mph and if you push it up a lot it jumps 5mph at a time.

Never had a problem on mine M235i/m4/335D, if knackered needs a new switch or wheel....

Ah! Makes sense! I thought he was meaning he had an extra stalk on the steering column a la the e9x models that was dedicated to the CC and was positioned on the Steering column LHS below / in front of the lighting stalk.

If the world "toggle" was used things might have made a bit more sense

So my 335d has also been hit by the same problem! This time it's visibly split apart on the underside!

I do use the cruise control a lot by at only 6 months old and 14k miles it is pretty poor!

Anyone else had this problem?

Have you tried polishing it ? Might help to firm it up.

I'm suggesting you polish your floppy...sh1t, do I have to spell it out ?

Obviously it's a dealer/warranty job. Just be careful not to explain that you've split the underside of your joy stick - service might try and fit you with a new frenulum, which would hurt

Just under 2 years and 77k. Mine went about 10-15k ago but I do use it a lot. In for service in a week or so & presuming they'll warranty it. Steering wheel also gone very shiny & slippery in parts so might try for a whole new item.

Wonder why mines gone so quickly!

To fix the shiny steering wheel just give it a good clean with methylated spirits, I did on my 330d and it brought it up almost like new! Then I used some leather protector to stop it going like that again too soon.

The shininess is just the oils from your hands that gets ingrained into the leather.

You haven't been cleaning it with non-BMW products by any chance?

I did as well 70,000 km marc 3 years. HOWEVER I was using it too much. When accelerating 70-120 better use throttle than push the button 10 times. Less known, the rubber is sensitive to finger oils and grease. Gas residue or alcohol (Purell) will desitegrate it. So hand sanitizer on your hand will attack it and ven if seemingly dried out. Was covered under warranty (300$) and now using Gummi Pfledge to keep that rubber clean.

A drop of fairy liquid in some warm water will do the trick too, it's a good degreaser.

I just sourced the repair part for this rubber toggle. Gotta say it, (the BMW part#61 31 7 849 407) is listed at $312.39 (yikes) and that's more than I'm willing to spend for the ability to jump my cruising speed by 5 mph!

I have thought about trying "Gorilla" contact cement or any kind of rubber cement but I'm afraid that could just gum up the works.

Or....

I can learn how to use the paddle shifters (I've had the car for 2 years now and have never used them) with the different performance themes (eco, comfort, sport, etc.) BMW has already dialed in.

I replaced mine a couple weeks back with a part which cost about £6 from aliexpress. Perfect replacement and the swap over takes about 15 minutes
