Should I buy a x4 M40 Or Wait for the 340 M ???
Currently looking for my next car and driving a put put lol.
Would love a Macan s or GTS but with their price ratios Id have to be rich for them to rob me. Its absolutely ridiculous how much they want for leases when the cars depreciate so fast and the msrps arent that high. So Anywho I really like the x4 M40 but its not the best looking thing. I also dont know if I want a super heavy car or not so im thinking hmmm. The new 3 series being revealed next week seems pretty bad ass and with the features and looks new size and road stance it might actually be worth waiting for ? Also getting the same engines as the x3/x4 so thats awesome IDk if its just me but driving a 5er on bad roads verse a 3er ive felt more safe and sturdy. But the new 3er looks like a baby 5er may have fixed these problems that ultimately made me even consider a crossover or suv. Need some insight guys |

You are not really clear on whether you want a sedan or suv? If sedan in what you want then it's worth waiting for the G20 M340i. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter.

Yeah more $ for something uglier and less practical. No thank you.

Not sure if I'm a help being sedan only fan but definitely wait for the 340 M if those are the only two choices.

It actually does matter. It depends on the dynamics the build etc. I can drive a 5 series all year round I can drive it on rough roads not really feel anything. 3 series I would. So pretty much I'm wondering could the 3 series be built more like the 5 series in terms of how it handles the road, weather etc.

Why not just wait until the G20 is unveiled?

I suggest the M340i or if you dont mind the f chassy just get the current 340i with mppsk and m suspension and you will have the same setup as a M340i with a heavy discount as dealership try to clear the inventory for the next model year. Otherwise maybe get the Z40iM if you dont need a ton of cargo space and four seats

This is getting silly. It sounds like OP wants a 5 but then doesn't for some reason. Cost? Too big compared to older one? X4 is a much different vehicle than a 3 you will be happy with one or the other, not both, assuming you are only getting one car.
The ONLY thing that straddles these vastly different desires would be a 335/340 GT with the smallest wheels that can clear the brakes and highest profile tires that will work.

440 GC because there are a lot less on the road here in CT and it has a much more menacing look than a 3er. Having the rear hatch that doesn't look like a hatch is awesome. Other than that a 650 but really isn't comparable in this lineup.

This. If I was to get a 340i again, I'd get a 440i GC instead. I had a loaner not too long ago and it sold me on the GC.

most of the guys giving advice are coming from driving enthusiasts POV X3/4 are SUVs and will never handle like a sport sedan.. too high CG for one X2 handles pretty well close but its still a crossover.. sounds like to me you want an suv or a cushy biggie like the 5-series |

Im just confused.
Loved my 335 xdrive sedan. Handled great, quite fast. Attractive car. Dont recall having winter trouble. But obviously didnt drive in deep snow or floods. Living in NY/NJ. 3 series was Terrible on rough patchy roads. Never had that problem on the 5 series loaners. But I feel 5 series is a huge sedan. |

Maybe you should take a look at the Caddy ATS if they offer the magnetic dampers on that model. It would probably give you a better blend of comfort vs sport than the 3-series. |

Wouldn’t you have to wait well over a year before the new M340i is even available?
