Going diesel has certainly limited some tuning options. I would think EGR elimination would be great for reliability - while leaving the other components. Hard to find a basic tune to get rid of the EGR. DUDMD certainly looks like an interesting option for just performance. https://www.dudmd.net/collections/bm...14892021547050

Do these engines handle the tunes well enough? EA888 and EJ series motors I am used to ran to nearly 200k with no issues on stage 1 or 2.

I'm glad this post is active again. I have been watching this issue since buying my '15 328d last September. I'm seriously thinking delete and tune but I want to get a few more miles of my own (55K when I bought it) before I begin remodeling. My other ride is a '02 F350 with the 7.3L diesel. No EGR, no DPF, no worries.

Mileage is still 40+ mpg, so no complaints. Just don't want the problems that others have had with the EGR.

Food for thought on messing with anything in the emissions system.

A word of caution in states where they plug into OBD for emissions. My state will now be specifically looking for EGR coding. If it is not there, or if any hardware is missing, it's an automatic impoundment, a call to the state, and an up to $250,000 fine.

The EPA has been fining and shuttering all tuners that delete for about a year now.

It is nice to see an approach that actually works on improving the EGR systems' reliability and effectiveness rather than amputating the subsystem.

I’m currently researching the complete delete for my 14 328d. I would love to strip it all out and keep running it as my daily commuter. I live in Texas, so I shouldn’t have any emissions requirement issues. Now to figure out which hardware and tune I want to use. There are some great suggestions in this thread. I currently have a code dealing with the SCR active tank. BMW says I need to replace it at $2400.

Nice I'm also in Texas, and recently picked up a 328d. Go with DUDMD for tuning. I have his stage 1 tune now. Hopefully getting Stage 2 Friday if the DP gets here, otherwise i'm looking for someone to install saturday lol. I've been looking for someone to install as I don't have the time.

Those details would be greatly appreciated. Are you doing the “complete delete” of all the hardware? Dpf, scr, egr, etc? If you are, I’m wondering if I’m missing something from my list. I know I need the DP, blockoff plates, a cat, and a tune.

I'm new to diesels as well. The DP will be getting rid of the DPF and the SCR i will hopefully being getting an exhaust shop to cut it off and weld straight pipe in place. The EGR is turned off via the stage 2 tune, so I dont think a block plate is a absolute requirement with our cars to my understanding.

Downpipe was found after days of checking ebay. It's Shifteck which seems to have good reviews on the other platforms of their pipes.

Really looking forward to your experience with this route. I'm seriously considering the Kerma tune but to do so, it requires keeping the stock exhaust equipment in place.

So the downpipe arrived, and did have 3 bungs, but other than that it installed pretty smoothly. Just plugged the third bung with a bolt.

She drove and also agrees its night/day difference from stock for the better. It does blow smoke a bit on full throttle, but it's not alot at all. Driving without flooring it, smoke is non existent or barely noticeable from the rear view.

DUDMD did awesome with the tune, and the customer service is out of this world compared to tuners I dealt with in the Infiniti scene. Go for it sir! You will NOT be disappointed

Great to hear it went well, thanks for sharing! The wife smell test is key as mine already says she can smell my car...but I don't and never have. I'd hate to make it unbearable as some have said with deletes.

Any of you who have a 328d, have you done the modification that the 335d people do with the stock intakes and a few holes in the bottom? Wondering how it sounds on our I4, been contemplating doing it, but havent found anyone who has actually done it

Swirl flap delete?
That's not for a power mod, that's because that CCV system and other factors on the 335d causing carbon buildup by like 60k miles, which then caused major issues to the swirl flaps. BMW redesigned them since for N47/N57.

It reduces a bit of power to delete swirl flaps, it may be mitigated by the tune, sure, but there is a loss.
