Do I need to reset transmission adaptions?

Planning to change my transmission fluid and have read mixed reviews over reseting adaptions after changing the fluid.

Do I really need to reset adaptions?
Will it damage the transmission if i dont reset adaptions after fluid change?

No. You may be thinking of the transfer case. That should be re-adapted after a fluid change...

Just the filter and fluid change shouldn't need adaption reset. But if you're changing mechatronic solenoids & mechatronic sealing sleeves then I would say yes.

You don't need to do that either.

I'm sure many/most have gotten by without doing it, and it is somewhat unclear what it does. That being said, the Bently manual specifically mentions resetting adaptations after fluid change. I did it...
