Touring Electric close tailgate

I probably know the answer, however will ask to confirm.

On the tourer, do you have to use the electric close button or can you close manually (quickly close).

You can close it yourself but pressing the button is easier, and it's also very quick.

You can also close using the key.

I love the powered tailgate!

Perhaps keep him on a short leash that can clip to one of the metal loops for fastening?

I too think this is a great feature now despite first thinking it was unnecessary. Great to press the key fob as you approach the car and have the boot raise for you and the button to close means not having to touch the dirty handle, etc. The button by the bonnet release is good too, pull up for the shops, press the button and by the time you get out its open!

Also love the split window opening too to grab my laptop quickly etc.

Very good design all round.

Note with the powered tailgate it won't close that quickly if you do try by hand... motor seems about as quick

That's just what I was going to say. To close it by hand you have to fight against the friction of the motor/gears. Which I always think is a bad idea.

The lock button on the tailgate is very useful. Saves me having to get my key out of my pocket.

I don't think I have ever tried to close by hand! What you say makes sense though... in this weather though, not having to touch anywhere dirty is great! That just made me sound like a right girl I'm sure!

That it closes slower than slamming it by hand is actually a pet benefit for me, as I have a cat that likes to jump in the car whenever he can. One day a couple of years ago I nearly decapitated him with the E90 as he jumped up just as I pulled the boot to slam it down (as you do with a saloon).... somehow I managed a split second reaction to catch it, and avoid serious injury!

Reversing camera is also handy to ensure I'm not about to squish him!

I only did once to see if you could! Others who don't realise about the button have done it by hand.

I have a cat that likes to run around the back of the car too and no camera so just have to keep an eye out at the side!!

+1 for the split tailgate. Before I got the car I thought it was just a gimmick but I have used it quite a few times now.

Split tailgate is great, use it a lot.

I figured would have to wait for electric motor to do its stuff, tried to close one manually and it does push back.

Looks like will be make him sit at back and close tailgate lol.

The car doesn't get washed much so not touching the tailgate is superb

LOVE the electronic tailgate, its great. I use it heaps. Love walking out to it and its raised before I get to it.

The split tailgate is good too.

One little moan......what's annoying tho is the cover doesn't flip up. I really expected to as my old E61 used to do it.

You can also close using the key.

I have RTFM and tried to do this with the key but can't find out how to close the tailgate with the key. Is that a Comfort Access only thing ??

There is a button on the key that opens the tailgate, press and hold this button and the f31 tailgate will close.

I do have comfort access so can't say if it's a standard option or not.
