428i GC - front bumper blue trim

Hello!
I am really pleased with this low KM (16,00km) 2016 428 i xdrive Gran Coupe that I recently purchased. So far the car hasn't disappointed and I was very hesitant to trade from my 128i MT.

The blue highlights on the front and rear bumper are one design feature I can't understand. Does anyone know the option or selection that led to this strange blue trim?

I found another 428 online with all black trim on front bumper and I think this looks much cleaner.

Any suggestions for addressing this? Would a black wrap do the job? Does anyone think this is a desireable look? Thanks!

I believe I've read here that the "blue" or purple occurs over time. A wrap or paint could solve the problem.

Yep, that's not blue, it's aged black.

Thank you! This is why I love the forum - looks like others have gone through BMW warranty to fix this issue.

Thanks for the prompt replies

I think it would look pretty good with a carbon fiber wrap. Judging by the pictures I think it might just snap into place. They're not expensive.

Just wanted to close the loop -

SA initially gave me the "i've never heard of this happening, doesn't sound like something covered", but when manager had a look he was very familiar with issue.

It was submitted to NA warranty but when claim was declined the dealership coordinated the replacement part and service under 'good will' at no cost to me.

Whatever took place internally, I'm extremely grateful and quite pleased with the improvement! Looks much better

thanks for the guidance here!
