Not a good move if true, they own the market now by offering the manual, for those who want one. It’s why I bought my car.

The rumors of no more manual are just rumors at the moment.

If they lose their manual transmission there are truly no more four-door cars left with manuals. You're left with that Subaru thing and?????

I'm thinking the same as Cammy5 and might not wait much longer. If I go this route, I'll order with MPPSK for sure.

I think the s4 is coming to America with a manual for the 2019 model year. Not positive but I thought I read that somewhere.

if the canadian market is any indication, manual will be limited to the 340i while 330i and 320i only have autos.

that would make more sense in my eyes as you force manual buyers to have to pay more to cover the costs of government testing the manual.

Here in the states the manual is the same price as auto. You would think enthusiast buyers who want a drivers car also would want more power rather than pushing them to the lower power lower margain cars. The only reason I can see is that they are higher volume.

This is super frustrating because if I'd known that the G20 was auto only, I would have bought a new manual F30 340i. I bought my car CPO just to hold out for the G20.

Oh well. It doesn't look like there are many choices left for manual sport sedans.

Not even offered at all in the S4. I think the C43 also is auto only.

Audi and Mercedes completely dropped the manual for all their cars. I believe Audi's last manual made was around 4-5 years ago for their S4.

They've definitely been phasing them out of their lineup since then. I have two friends with 2014 A5s, both of which are manual. My buddy says he would be switching to our team when he upgrades, specifically so he can get a manual, so hopefully they're still around.

I do recall seeing a BMW engineer say that manuals would still be around for some time to come, but I'm not sure if that applies to M only or not.

I just bought an '18 340i 6MT for fear of the G20 not having a manual. No regrets. The G20 will no doubt be faster and have more tech... but the 6MT is a must and I hate uncertainty.

I said the other day this will probably be the last MT car I buy. I might be in this thing for 10 years or so. Get it while it still exists... all these 'auto is faster so it's better' people are ruining everything for us. Driving is nothing more than sitting in a chair.

It's technology to be honest, it keeps advancing and people have to adapt. Sure you can buy older cars nowadays with a manual, but soon they'll require more emission and safety checks etc...

If people don't buy manual, they won't make it. It's that simple, you can't force people to drive something they don't want to drive and buy something they don't want with their money. If you think driving is nothing more than sitting in a chair with a transmission, then you're driving wrong. It seems to me you're only driving the car for the transmission and not for the car. No matter which transmission you have, you should be enjoying how the car handles, how the torque throws you in the seat, how your engine and exhaust and turbo screams as you go up the RPMs.

It's not all about the transmission. You should go and try to sit in someone's GT3RS or something like that for a track day or even backroads. You'll be too busy trying not to die or keeping your eyes on the road to worry about the transmission, I had the chance to do so, and the car is scary as hell especially when the owner was telling me "oh you can go faster and brake later than that" when I'm used to braking earlier with my car.

I believe it only applies to M cars, especially M3/M4. They have always had a manual option and I don't believe they'll remove it for that car. However the normal 3-4-5-6-7 series (330i/340i etc..) will probably lose manual as it's more directed to the general population of "entry affordable luxury cars"

I think the 2 series will probably keep the manual as it's more or less the sporty compact coupe.

Not dead yet. Audi USA still offers a manual in the A4 for the 2018 model year. They actually redesigned it in 2017.

https://www.audiusa.com/newsroom/new...l-transmission

Having options is a good thing. I am under no illusions that i'm in the minority, I still enjoy driving a manual over an auto, and I'll continue to buy one as long as I can get one.

Honda Accord...the NEW Honda Accord offers a MANUAL in BOTH models (both engine options). It's a sad day when Honda has to be the one carrying on the enthusiast choice and not BMW.

p.s. Also, the Cadillac ATS and the Audi A4 still offer manuals...

The new M5 did not offers MT and came with 8 spds auto tranny not DCT, seem like every MFG is phasing out the MT and going with auto version.
Get the MT from BMW while it last.
