Wheel advice?

For weight reduction purposes and to get a beefier tire I am thinking of downsizing to 18's. I am currently running TSW Watkins 20 inch wheels. 20x9 et 35 and 20x10 et 44. Leaning towards apex sm10 18 inch wheels. Will I notice a big difference?

what size of wheels and tires are you switching to? the specs of wheels and tires are available for you to calculate change in weight, diameter and width.
I am not totally sure of the exact size but I want to go with apex 18's.

18's, that's fine, but different widths and offsets have different weights. same for tire sizes.

are you going square? staggered?
If I go squared, will it be flush?

how the wheel looks on your car depends on the width, offset, and tire size and whether you're lowered or not.

here's a lowered F30 with 18x9 ET30 245/40/18 square. take a look at it and tell me your thoughts on it...https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...38;postcount=1
Really like it. I am lowered on eibach springs.

ok good, so one option is use the same wheel and tire specs

option 2 is 255/40/18 tire size instead for more grip. it'll look beefier and be 5mm more flush, though.
I saw this setup and really liked it.

you found a better example

i say just copy that. your 435vert has a lot of extra power with your mods so 255/40/18 square for sure.
Would I need spacers?

no spacers required. it's always better to find fitment without spacers, whenever possible.
I'm thinking 255/40 in rear will be to small. I need more tire like a 275 or 285.

Will I get any scraping? Thanks so much for the help.

If I may chime in, also consider tires if you are looking at weight reduction.
Tire Rack was super helpful with this because they list tire weight as part of the product description.

I mention this as I was counting calories some years back on my BRZ. I went with a wider rim back then (17 x 8.5 vs stock 17 x 7), which added about almost 2 pounds to the rim weight. But I made up the difference by finding a tire just under 2 pounds lighter.

The idea was that I wanted to keep as near (or lower) the stock wheel weight so not to kill the handling of the lightweight car.

But to reinforce one of the questions, is reduced wheel weight noticeable?
On my former 95 M3, I went from the stock 23lb rims to 17lb rims. It was staggeringly noticeable. I *felt* I could charge into turns faster, brake, and turn and recover quicker.

So I called and spoke to apex rep. He told me he would suggest going with 18x9 et30 in the front and 18x9.5 et35 in the rear. He said I could do 245/40/18 in the front and 275/35/18 in the rear. I would prefer to go 285/35/18 in the rear. He said I will probably rub going with that tire size and need to get fenders rolled. Is anyone running this tire in rear?

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...;postcount=291

if you want to run 285/35/18(25.9") rear, you'll need a rear rim with offset between ET40 to ET45(preferred). which is why i recommended the rear wheel fitments in post #16.

(Flow Formed)Apex rear wheels that can fit a 285/35/18 with offsets that will fit are:
18x9.5" ET43: EC-7
18x10.5" ET40: FL-5 & (ARC-8R & EC-7R forged)
18x11" ET44: EC-7, FL-5, SM-10

11" ET44 inside will be close to touching the strut. rays340i fit a 295/30/19(12" section width) ET45, -1.9 camber here...
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...8;postcount=85
https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...38;postcount=1

therefore, 18x11" ET44 should fit with 285/35/18 however, here is the disclaimer. i do not know if your F33 fenderwell space is the same as a F30
Wow, you did a lot of work on this thread! Impressive! 🤟

19x10.5 et 22 will stick out 2/3 of an inch past the fender with normal camber. Definitely not advised
