3.0?
There is different version numbers for 20i and 28i variants of N20 engine. For 20i the latest version is indeed 3.0.
Oh well that sucks...
Wish they had an update for 28i

It drives amazing!! Does peel out a bit in first, but does connect pretty well.
Anyone run full boost in all gears??

8 speed

275 30 19 rear tires
Holy tires lol..Yeah i ran mine like that for a while, but it felt like it was bucking too much in 1st & 2nd specifically, so i changed to the boost reduction from 1st thru 3rd gears for (10%). So far seems pretty smooth, even when i get on it...

Idk, but my gas mileage isn't that great around town after the tune + burbles, maybe getting around 18.5mpg avg. Of course this includes some shorter distance freeway driving, like less than (10 miles) to burn off some carbon's lol..

Not sure if the burbs harm the stock cats, maybe soonebody on here can chime in with some data on that. Only hearsays is what i got about that to keep the BM3 Aggression settings to less than 4secs and the durations under 2secs.

In all honestly, I'm on Stage II and I'm considering going back to Stage I.
this thing pulls so hard it feels like it's going to rip the motor right off the block.
We're you the one doing the dyno yesterday? How'd it go?

Burbles don't happen in the muffler. I would dial back on the aggression unless you want to spit out chunks of your cat.

Bmw 328i x drive f30 N20 EWG

Hey bmw experts! How are you all down ? So just by the title you have guessed that i have a 328i f30 N20. I was looking into tuning at eurocharged.ca ( i live in canada). And they said that because N20 engines are not tuner friendly and experienced a lot of engine problems. My questions are as follow (lol sorry):

1) i heard bootmode3 is an amazing tuning that you can get burbles with a stock car.

N20 (low-compression 28i)
Stage 1 91 octane: 16%HP / 20%TQ
Stage 1 93 octane: 18%HP / 22%TQ
Stage 2 91 octane: 20%HP / 24%TQ
Stage 2 93 octane: 22%HP / 25%TQ
Stage 1 E30 octane: 21%HP / 24%TQ
Stage 2 E30 octane: 25%HP / 27%TQ

These are the numbers i saw for the N20 engine 328i. Mine is the 2015 bmw which i believe its a EWG. Based on the numbers shown i should be having an output of 285hp after stage 1 on a stock car with 93 octane. Is that true? I heard people pushing close to 292hp with a stock car.

2) will my warranty be voided if i install the tune ?

3) unlike the eurocharged tune, is the bootmod3 tune safe? Has anyone used it for a long period of time?

4)and lastly what would i need to add to my car to be able to get the stage 2 93 octane tune?

Thank you all for your help!!

Hopefully I can clear up some of your questions,

- any type of tune will technically "void" you warranty as your putting extra pressure on your engine. In the states tho, the dealership needs to prove that the issue was caused from the tune to void it, not sure about Canada

-BM3 is one of the safest tunes out there with a lot of support, and is what most peeps on here are running (personally waiting on my warranty to finish to flash, but I did a good amount of research)

- for stage II its recommended to upgrade intercooler, downpipe, charge pipe, and turbo inlet (personally will upgrade charge pipe on stage I)

most my research was on the 320 but they are practically the same engine other than the pistons and lower compression rate on the 328. Maybe someone with actual experience can help you out with the details

*edit: definitely not a BMW expert lol just some info I gained from the forums

When you get the license PTF or a dealer like Kies with your VIN, it will specify your WG (EWG or PWG) and also which DME you have (older version or newer version) at least for the 320's it is on the DME's...So to use mine here are my specs:

- Engine: N20-EWG-H-P
- DME: MEVD172P

1. last time, when i was running on N20 engine and get on dyno using Stage 2 93 octane, it got 305hp with all the FBO

2. in my country, the warranty will not void because of tune.

3. i don't know whether it is safe or not. Tuning always put additional risk to your car, since you pumping more power and pressure to your car. my previous N20 engine only last around 3000 miles on Stage 2 BM3, while others get pass 50k miles without problem on Stage 2 BM3. Even some pushing on 350hp with big turbo and still no problem.

4. high flow downpipe (prefer catless), FMIC is require. Charge pipe, TIC, and intake is recommended.

N20 (low-compression 28i)
Stage 1 91 octane: 16%HP / 20%TQ
Stage 1 93 octane: 18%HP / 22%TQ
Stage 2 91 octane: 20%HP / 24%TQ
Stage 2 93 octane: 22%HP / 25%TQ
Stage 1 E30 octane: 21%HP / 24%TQ
Stage 2 E30 octane: 25%HP / 27%TQ

These are the numbers i saw for the N20 engine 328i. Mine is the 2015 bmw which i believe its a EWG. Based on the numbers shown i should be having an output of 285hp after stage 1 on a stock car with 93 octane. Is that true? I heard people pushing close to 292hp with a stock car.

2) will my warranty be voided if i install the tune ?

3) unlike the eurocharged tune, is the bootmod3 tune safe? Has anyone used it for a long period of time?

4)and lastly what would i need to add to my car to be able to get the stage 2 93 octane tune?

Thank you all for your help!!

1. last time, when i was running on N20 engine and get on dyno using Stage 2 93 octane, it got 305hp with all the FBO

2. in my country, the warranty will not void because of tune.

3. i don't know whether it is safe or not.

Thank you so much!! I was honestly going to just a downpipe with an air intake system and stay at stage 1 93 octane ! That should be a lot of fun until i get a bigger bmw engine!

that's the setup i use right now
Stage 1 91 octane, catless dowpipe, cat-back valvetronic exhaust, BMS open billet, charge pipe, intake pipe.

and i'm happy with current setup, provide enough power for spirited driving

2016 320i Bootmod3 stage 1 93 Octane

Hey, so I've been lurking in this thread for a while gathering up all the great info that's being shared. You all really helped me a lot without knowing it. I have a 2016 320i xDrive w/ N20. Stock except for a K&N drop-in. I cut my teeth boosting the crap out of Saab 900 turbos and my last BMW was a 330ci, so I wanted some more power out of this one. I'm on a budget, so the Racechip ad in a browser caught my eye one day. Short summary: its ok. Definitely added some power. But, it wasn't super smooth, top end RPMs seemed anemic, and there's really limited functionality. And, I just don't like the idea of the piggyback and the octopus of wires involved. So, after reading up in this thread and others, I ordered Bootmod3 and an ENET cable...

SWEET BABY JESUS. Exactly what I was looking for. I flashed Stage 1 93 octane. Went smooth once I got my laptop and wifi sorted. Started the car and let it run for 5 minutes. Then flashed the OTS TCU map. They both flashed perfect, no issues at all. Very easy. Went for a short drive, but couldn't get on it much because it was rush hour. But: SO MUCH MORE POWER. I was skeptical of the 52% HP/56% TQ figures on their website, but after driving it, MY BAD. The power delivery is smooth, the transmission feels really crisp and Comfort mode feels like Sport. Did I mention HOW MUCH POWER it added? Just a little throttle and it moves! Super satisfied and can't wait to drive it more.
