Sport line "whiskers" in black?

Been looking for these lower grille Sport Line whiskers. Only found them in silver for sale.

Does no one make them in gloss black? Is 119 dollar + IND painted set is my only choice? (https://ind-distribution.com/collect...er-whisker-set)

It looks like they can be removed. You could wrap them yourself or try painting them but wrapping would probably look better.

For a wrap it would be pretty tough to do a clean job. I suspect youd have to really go crazy on the heat gun or smth, plus the cost of buying the wrap... Id much easier get a gloss black insert but apparently no one makes it (which is strange as they make those overlays on the grilles, and even mirror caps).

So seems Im out of luck on this.

And it looks superb.

Do you have any DIY or what DIY you used?

Any info on the paint is appreciated, as well as method.

To me it seems a big job, taking them off, cleaning them and probably sanding a little, painting them with primer, then paint, and hope that said paint sticks to primer, and that paint is done in a clean booth without any dust to make sure gloss black looks good.

It took a couple of minutes to figure out where to push. But when one clip gives way, it isn't too bad. Then it is, sanding, plasticprimer and color. I went for semi gloss.

Thanks for that explanation. I assume any store bought paint will do.

I just bought some, at Biltema or Bauhaus. Can't remember which one it was. Just a rattlecan.

I wrapped mine with matte black wrap to try and match the rest of the bottom area.
It was fairly easy to remove the whiskers.
I heated the wrap and stretched a little around the ends.
This was my first time wrapping and it came out better than I expected.

Why not just remove the silver part...that piece is removable, you know...just saying...and I had the 3 silver L shaped ones on each side from a luxury line 428xi grand coupe.

I believe the silver part is called the whiskers.

I got them wrapped black when I did my chrome delete at a shop. 10 bucks for both combined. I'd ask for a wrap if you can't find aftermarkets and you don't want to remove them.

Do you have any tips on how to remove them? I've searched for solutions and many people say it's impossible to get rid of them.

I haven't found any helpful YouTube videos either. Can you give me some advice?

I followed this video.

Mine is a little different.
I just looked under for the tabs to open up and the whisker forward.

I hope this helps.
