Only the 340i has a limited slip from bmw
The xdrive version doesn't I own both xdrive and rwd bmw i prefer the rwd as the xdrive add weight, doesn't really improve handling in snow via the much and rather put the same amount of money on a limited then awd. |

People who say rwd and snows don't drive in snow. I have xdrive 335 and dedicated snow and can still break it free very easily. Awd will be more stable. Yes it adds weight but it's not like you are competing against vettel.

I vote RWD for the 95% of the year before the snow plows do their job
I just drive something else when the white stuff is left on the ground so much fun with the RWD |

Im in Northern Vermont about 15 minutes from Canada, I have a RWD 335. I used studded snow tires this year and it had no problems driving.

2 winters and counting for my RWD 340i with Blizzak. Even with winter tires you still need common sense when driving on snow.
If you drive on a lot of up hills then you might consider AWD.
