No Nav, iOS TomTom has worked so far... Only an occasional Nav user. 10 times a year ish.
Just interested in the tyre monitoring system. If I delayed the car, I think my girlfriend may leave me... It would turn up about our wedding time, and my excitement may be focused in the wrong direction...

Yes not worth delaying just for tpms, especially in your circumstances! Congratulations on getting married by the way! |

Yep, got to stick together... Otherwise, we'll be got by the Pro-Media crowd!
Cheers fella. If I delayed and talked cars any longer than absolutely necessary, she'd kill me. Apparently my focus should be suits, music, vows etc...

Can't get away on a proper holiday / honeymoon untill summer. So, thinking of doing the "Skyfall" drive up to the highlands for a wee honeymoon / play with new car... She wants to go to Edinburgh anyway... Shame it's no going to be a DB5!

The present system, same as my E90, works for a puncture. I had one on the motorway a few years back. Drove on to the next services and found a screw stuck in. Put some more air in and drove on. 5 miles later it went boing again. So, drove the 100 odd miles home. The limitation is not knowing which corner, and how flat the tyre is. The next day there was still 1.8 bar left. Tyre was apparently still repairable. But, too low on tread to be worth it. So, new system would have provided much more information in this circumstance. On the move monitoring etc.

i will be intersted to see more info on what the new Business Nav will have in comparison to the Pro Nav & how the cost changes.
currently pro is £1990 and Business is £900? Pro is 8.8" screen - Business will be 6.5" screen neither currently have EBT (a £350 option) but Business will have it as Std (price increace?) Pro has RTTI, business currently does not, but will have Pro uses NBT, Business used to use CIC?, but will use NBT? does Business currently have media HDD? will it when updated? why would you spec Pro over newer Business (apart from a bigger screen?) Also the trailed new option of a "innovation pack" essentially a viz pack plus HUD/ Speed limit is interesting as i was looking at both. it says "Moreover, as of spring 2014, an innovation package will be available for all BMW 3 Series models consisting of attractive special equipment options. This package includes Xenon headlights, adaptive cornering lights, the BMW Head-Up Display, the High-Beam Assistant and Speed Limit Info including No Passing Indicator." - i wonder how this will affect pricing of Viz pack & how it works with the M-sport plus? A new options pricing structure for nav & packs coming? |

EBT is actually £450 option currently on bus, £350 on bus+ and prof (because they have all the hardware already for it(which is why EBT can be coded in on them)) Business hasn't been CIC for a while, it is currently CHAMP2. I am guessing it will be NBT. From what I can see, bus nav will not have the touch controller, black panel display, voice control, split screen or HDD. I think these would be the reasons to get prof from now on. |

So you can still fit aftermarket wheels, albeit if you put run flats on them you will have to buy sensors for the wheels. |

TPMS is a (technical) must with run-flats. If you have a puncture you otherwise won't know that you have to drive at moderate speeds. It is not a replacement for checking the correct tyre pressure. Even the more advanced system of the two (which measures pressure as opposed to calculate it from the turning speed of the wheel) is only a guide, maybe a good guide.
TPMS is also a legal requirement from Nov 2014 in Europe, it was a legal requirement in the US from 2007 (this explains why US delivered BMWs have, what, lets say the UK, hasn't). Many other countries have or will introduce similar regulation. |

I'm currently unable to access the BMW Configurator
http://www.bmw.co.uk/brandBM/marketG.../error404.html So could this be because they're updating the site for all the Spring changes!? |

Well that's good news in a way. However it is roughly 3 weeks from build to delivery so delivery would need to be end of March at least to get the updates.
