Show me your b58 engine bays!

This might be lame for a lot of you but I'm booked for a show and shine (bimmerinvasion Orlando) in Feb.

My bodywork and styling is really on point but my engine bay is dull.

I don't run the cover and have an intake and ds25 which is visible, turbo is DAW but hidden.

How have you dressed your engine bays up tastefully?

I'm not into all the tacky ali express stuff but need some ideas that are clean looking.

Also, how do you all deal with the sand and crap on your inlet manifold?

Thanks!

Ahem.... your silver oil cap does not match the other orange caps in the jewelry box. We'll have to deduct 6 points for that! lol!

OP - Vacuum with brush attachment to remove as much sand as possible then pressure wash and dry with a leaf blower.

good catch! i did some photoshopping and didn’t like how orange looks as an oil cap. i got an aluminum cap to match my aluminum oil filter housing cap, i guess silver identifies the oil part of my engine caps haha.

I don't think I can run a strut brace with the OCC but if I could I do like that ECS CF brace...
In the next month or two I plan to get some carbon in here. Anyone else know a good CF oil cap?

Any issues with leaving the engine cover off during daily driving?
I assume some engine noises (injectors, etc.) would be more noticeable but any downside?

I'm surprised by how many seem to not use the cover at all.

In the past, I had issues with a rodents setting up a winter home and chewing some wires underneath the engine cover and defecating all around the oil cap and valleys/wire connectors in the intake manifold. Leaving it off would likely help discourage them from coming back!! They would not have such a good place to hide.

Maybe I dreamed it but I'm sure Kevin kern417 did tests and it showed a slight reduction in iat's with it off.

Like I said, I may have dreamed it but I have a feeling I did see that information on a video one time.

I only notice an injector noise difference outside the car
Any noise changes inside the cabin are negligible if noticable at all, my opinion...
And I also eliminated the sound deadening around the back of the engine by the hpfp

BN Heat Shield

I took the new beefier Heat Shield and polished it. I think it looks pretty dope for people with OEM turbo's and hybrids.

Running with no cover causes less dust to accumulate on inlet manifold etc and also less appealing for mice to nest. I use air pressure nozzle to blow off any dust, sand that does sit on inlet manifold. I don't use any sticky sprays to enhance looks though.
