Same here, you might not have to pay an increased premium.
I've just been to Coopers Body Centre and the estimator told me I don't need to tell my insurance company about this even at renewal time because I'm going to get it done through their accident management company!? :

I always thought you were caught by "any claims OR accidents in last 5 years" so technically if you've had a no-fault accident such as Teaston's you're supposed to declare it, whether your insurance company was involved or not.

That's what I thought too. He's a very experienced older guy so it has got me thinking if you do need to declare it.

People get penalised for non fault claims. This is the dumbest shit ever. The insurance industry is a ducking shambles. Feel your pain mate. Mine is in the body shop and should be ready end of next week. I decided to go via insurance. Gave the stuff back to the breakers and he refunded me. It's a 3-4 day job and I am not happy with the 8 day turn around. All hell will break loose if it is not done by then. At least yours looks repairable but why should you out of your own pocket?! Probably if you are worried about your premium I guess.

I'm 99% sure you DO need to declare it. Insurers share details so you claim on the 3rd parties insurance and they will note that you've had a no fault claim.

If they say "have you had any accidents that were not your fault in the last five years regardless of if a claim was made" and you say "nope" you'll be committing insurance fraud and if one day you needed a big claim they might look into the past and screw you.

The only way you might get away with it is... by saying: "I am reporting this for information only and do not wish to claim." It won't count unless the third party has a successful claim which is unlikely as you have footage. However, the third party has up to 3 years to make a claim. Again... that won't be successful so long as you keep copies of that footage. Usually a third party that is guilty and knows their claim will not hold up is not dumb enough to put a claim in. This is only worth it for minor stuff. I am claiming on mine for the first time in 30 years and as much as I don't want to, that is what it is there for.

Yes i suppose you're right. Oh well even if it adds £100 to my annual premium it's still only about £9pm which is F all compared to paying for this out of my insurance and paying the £250 excess.

It's not a case of if you've had a claim in the last 5 years .. if you've been in an accident in the last 5 years and your insurance have been notified about it then it's logged on the insurance database that you've been in a none fault accident.. this usually does add a little to your insurance premiums unfortunately

Just to add.. I did a price comparison site quote for a friend recently and it said if you've been in an accident and haven't claimed you still must declare it.

I totally and utterly do NOT agree with it but the second one insurance company knows I juts assume they all know. They'd be stupid not to.

With full evidence you might get lucky. When I was younger I managed to stuff a car into a tree on ice within 2 weeks of passing my test then a few weeks later I came to renewal. That HURT. Age 18 with a claim already. Then a year later some guy drove out of their driveway onto the road where I was waiting at some traffic lights. That put my insurance up then 6 months later some dithering old guy drove straight into the same side on a roundabout because he forgot where he was going.

By age 20 I had to drive because I couldn't walk due to all of the ass ramming the insurance companies did to me

Proper dopey cnut - looks like they caught you and kept going to get the most damage possible from the situation!

Can you claim the cost of increased future premiums from the other parties insurance?

That sucks! Sorry to hear/see that.

Did they protest or admit their wrong doing?

This kind of stuff causes unesseccary hassle and stress.

I know of a case where the 3rd party insurer was taken to a small court for this insurance premium rises after a non fault claim.
After a non fault accident a bloke my old man knocks around with (who is a barrister and member of the Bar) had his next year premium by his normal insurer put up by £200.
He did the quote online declaring the non fault and then did the same quote without declaring and the difference was £200.

He then served a claim against the 3rd party insurer at the small claims court for the loss he incurred as a result of the accident in addition to the car damage.

Obviously he has the know how and the legal PAs to write all the letters at little costs but he settled it out of the court and got circa £1200 in full and final settlement for any losses that may occur in respect of the non fault claim.

He was a complete dopey geek, he mumbled something about the new roundabout layout being confusing but that was it.

Yes you do ge5 some dopey twats.

Mrs had an idiot drive into her at a roundabout couple of years back and all our premiums went up.

We’ve got a few new Lane changes round here as well with the inside and outside lanes going right - get some twats doing this now on “normal” roundabouts and cutting across you if you’re going straight.

Council have used different style dashes to try and indicate chosen lanes on roundabouts which just look confusing.

Im not looking forward to next years renewals.

2018 so far has brought me the following:
Household claim - Watermain burst on my side of the meter
Household claim - Burgled
330d - Stolen recovered
M2 - Stolen recovered

I hate insurers - they are quick tot ake the money and total shite at paying it out again, not one of these was my fault, but in all cases I was treated worse than I've seen some criminals get. Legalised scum.

Oh yeah and they'll be raping me next year.
