10k oil service - car feels great! (?)

Just had the 10k service performed (filter and oil), and had a chance to actually drive her today. What a HUGE difference. The car performs like it has a tune. The exhaust is louder, it pulls like it's in Sport (it isn't), and even the AC gets colder faster.

I've only ever owned my cars, and this is my first lease. I always went anywhere from 3k-6k between oil changes, so I was a little nervous going 10k, but everything I've read suggests with synthetic oils, 10k is no big deal. With shorter interval changes, I've never noticed too big a change in performance with just some new oil or even a filter.

However, I'm wondering now if this improvement in performance is all just from a new oil filter and oil change. At least according to the receipt and my discussions with SA, they didn't perform any other service (save for some Teflon tape for a rattle from the driver side).

Or maybe it's just because I haven't driven the car in several days and it's all placebo? I had an X1 Monday - Wednesday from Zipcar and it was the most abysmal POS I've ever driven, inside and out, including Dodge Neons I used to rent back in college.

Anyone else experience this with just an oil service? Am I nuts? I'm not complaining though, it's freaking awesome.

No friend you're not nut, you've become a freak of nature like almost every BMW owner after awhile...

Regular oil changes, restores lost hp between service terminals...
Regular car wash, makes your car more aerodynamic until it gets dirty again...
Driving your car few days in a row makes you think that you're losing hp day by day and you should give it a break
Driving your car once after a week, makes you think that all suddenly it has more power...

Now to friendly answer your question, it's completely normal behavior after departing from your fellow friend for a while.

Enjoy it!

Planning a washer fluid change. Will hopefully get 10hp at the crank.

Its possible.... I didn't wait 10k for an oil change since i beat on my car a bit.

After changing the oil on my motorcycle, gsxr750, it always feels amazing right after.
