F31 - HiFi to HK Roofliner Speaker Swap?

I have a 2017 F31 (USA) with the HiFi (676) setup, currently stock.

I was looking at RealOEM diagrams, and noticed that the F31 with HK has a rear headliner pair of speakers (mid or tweeter) - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=65_2394

I've seen posts where Billfitz and others have added rear tweeters through custom fabrication in the doors. I'm curious if anyone has ever swapped the headliner setup from an HK vehicle, and mounted tweeters above? I can't quickly appreciate the RealOEM part differences, but suspect the swap to be quite costly and labor intensive. Looks interesting, nonetheless.

Thanks.

You'd have to figure out how to power speakers back there.

I think that those speakers are planar -no mid-tweeter components. And you will need 2 channels to power those.

If properly routed, can I not simply place tweeters in the overhead, running them from the rear signals as you have described here:

That describes how I added tweeters to the rear doors. You're taking about adding midbasses and tweeters to the headliner. They'll require two more channels of amplification to power them.

I should clarify. I wasn't necessarily intending to add more channels, but simply use those slots as placeholders for additional rear tweeters similar to the way you added them to the doors.

You'll have to clarify even more. The tweeters I added to the rear doors are powered by the same amps that power the rear door midbasses. Do you already have midbasses on the headliner? Only if that's the case can you add tweeters wired to them.

I mean to run them off the rear door midbass speakers (like you have done), but locate them physically in the roof (instead of beside them in the door). I'm not sure if that affects the timing/delay. Probably not worth the hassle and expensive, but just brainstorming options.

I don't see it. Put the tweeters in the rear doors. Tweeters in the headliner without midbasses would sound odd.

I'm sure you're right. Again, just exploring different ideas. I appreciate the input.
