I have to agree with going with the MPPSK if you don't intend to street race or competitively track the car. Going after-market for tunes, DP, exhaust, HPFP, bigger turbo, fueling blends, list goes on for this engine's potential. Very slippery and expensive slope! The MPPSK has a lot going for it. Yes it's expensive out of the box but it doesn't push the engine and chassis to it's limits and provides an extra punch when needed. Warranty stays intact, sounds aggressive in sport and sport + but quiet in comfort and eco modes when I need to behave around adults. Fuel mileage doesn't seem affected with this tune for road trips and daily driving. Hell my 340ix gets better fuel mileage than my e90 328ix ever did! I would only suggest adding the stage 3 xHP transmission tune that's reversible in a few minutes for dealer warranty visits. IMO it really adds to sport+ drive mode shift speed and rounds out the MPPSK package.

I picked up an M Performance exhaust a few months ago from another Forum member and have been very happy with it. I would have loved to do the full MPSSK, but it was a bit out of my reach and I got a great deal on the exhaust. Maybe one day I'll step up to the full MPSSK, but for now, I'm very happy and my warranty is completely intact.

I am intending to do so soon. Do you use any custom settings and are you happy with the shifting in Comfort? Some complain about it being degraded, slower shifting / shifting too early (incl. when more throttle is applied), etc.
I drive mainly in Comfort so wouldn't want that compromised for improvement in Sport / Sport+.

Watch this video for comparison between B58 stock, MPPK and BootMod3 Stage1 tunes. Don't waste your money with BMW's aftermarket offering when an AWE exhaust with BootMod3 Stage1 tune is so superior and much less expensive.

Might just go with the awe catback exhaust. Wait the 2 years for warranty to run out and go catless/tune from there

As far as info on the xHP trans tune, the https://www.xhpflashtool.com/ site can fill you in as well as doing a search on the F30 forum. The xHP stage 3 tune in comfort as far as seat of pants is concerned is bone stock. When I first installed the tune I thought it would change comfort mode and was disappointed. Felt no change which in hind sight is a good thing if you just want to chill. The real fun is most felt with stage 3 in the sport+ drive mode. Shifts are near instantaneous and abrupt. One passenger said it shifts violently! When I removed the xHP tune and went back to the factory tune. I couldn't wait to reinstall. Should have been this way from the factory with the MPPSK. It's that good and with it I see no need for that 3rd pedal with this transmission.

AWE Exhaust
1. No factory warranty.
2. BMW has smart people and they think this is how the engine should be tuned.
3. It comes down to who you trust. I can only afford one car.

As a side note, BM3 with the AWE exhaust:
1. Exhaust with carbon fiber tips (https://www.kiesmotorsports.com/coll...29487069921395) = $2194
2. BM3 tune (https://www.kiesmotorsports.com/prod...bed3f59e&_ss=r) = $595

== $2789 + labor... or I can go with MPPSK from BMW for $3500 out the door, with the above benefits of my warranty and reliability.

+ you failed to mention that the MPPSK features a state of the art valved exhaust which has very few competitors for what it is. AWE is certainly not one. Akrapovic Evo is. But look at the price tag?

Also the MPPSK has a type-approval allowing it to be legally registered and driven in Europe.

==> You can always go cheaper, no one is arguing that. But you don't get the same.

In comfort mode, is it still louder than stock? It's difficult to tell from videos...

Suggest you read the dedicated MPPSK thread. There is hardly any question not answered multiple times….

It's only a bit louder in comfort mode but to be honest it's pretty quiet and doesn't drone at highway speeds like some of the competitors. Where you'll notice it being louder in comfort mode is in the first few minutes of starting the car where both exhaust valves are open. Once it settles into a normal idle it gets quieter. If you live in a residential neighborhood your neighbors will know your BMW has been awoken.

Out of curiosity, why are US dealerships charging such insane prices for MPPSK fitting? I paid £1700 out the door with carbon tips a year ago which google suggests is ~$2300...

The UK dealerships here were all charging the same sort of price and seemed to be fully aware that there are a limited number of vehicles that they will be able to fit them on going forwards (2018 onwards with the PPF are not compatible) so i'd assume they'd be far more open to a good deal on something they may end up taking up inventory that they can't fit in the future.

It was a steal at £1700 and worth every penny, at $4000/£2900 I would have had to think about it a little longer and may have looked at non-OEM options... it is amazing though as everyone else has said.

If MPPSK is manufactured in Germany then perhaps export import costs overseas cause the price increase?

+1..that is my experience too. Other than startup there is not too much change in the noise level in comfort.
