White stuff around my center caps

There's this hard white stuff forming around my bmw center caps on all 4 wheels. I tried cleaning them off but they're really hard to remove. It seems like they're stuck on really bad.

Anyone else experience the same issue and know what they are?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it almost looks like scrapes from where one has used a tool to remove the center cap. If not, it's probably some form or lime deposit or calcification. I'd take the caps off, soak the area with distilled white vinegar for 5-10 minutes, then gentle agitation with a toothbrush and/or a microfiber towel.

I believe it's a corrosion issue due to the dissimilar metals - had it on our F30. Some owners have been able to get their wheels or caps replaced under warranty - we weren't as lucky. Bought new caps.

Corrosion. You can clean it as stated or get new caps.

Galvanic corrosion. The last time i rotated my tires (yeah I do rotate tires) I tried sanding off the corrosion but it made it worse. I rotated again today and put in new caps. My caps were original so I figure I will need new caps in another 5 years.

Also, that corrosion is from winter most likely. I have the same

depends on how much you want to spend. Ebay and amazon sell pretty cheap knock offs or your local dealer to spend a lot.

dealer will charge you approximately $17/ea

ECS/Turner will charge you $13 but then slam you with shipping charges to make up for their minimal markup on parts

ebay/amazon knock off full set for $17

x4 $62 shipped with lifetime warranty. If they start to corrode just send them in for new ones
