Unfortunately, the common denominator in both good and bad experiences is people. Sytner (I use High Wycombe) are pretty hot on customer service as a business and a great deal of effort and cost goes into providing good facilities for their customers. However, they are utterly dependent on their staff to deliver that experience and if one of their team is having a bad day or is just shite at their job (try getting shot of staff these days!!), the customer gets that experience, not the one intended by the company. Having had both Ford and VAG vehicles in the past, my experience of BMW dealers is, on average, way better than either of those.

As in all things, personal experience doesn't necessarily reflect the experience the majority get. Luck, good or bad, also plays a part.

Had a similar experience today with our first service. Mrs is 9 months prego and just started her mat leave today so was perfect time to get it services before impending doom.

Had to pay £20 for a courtesy car insurance which i thought was cheeky as i'm paying over £200 for a service. Explained when i booked it she was pregnant & needed an auto still and wanted something of similar poke because we're used to it, i know this is a bit 1st world problem but i thought the amount i'm paying for a service they could accommodate.

Anyway turned up at 9:45 to miss the morning rush, hot dealership and she had to wait for 30 mins just to drop it off and get a car sorted for her and then sign something to tell her bring it back with the same amount of fuel as she used which annoys me as you can never tell how much to put in so probably put more than needed in!

Let's see how slick the taking back process is!

Taking note of everything here as my service indicator says 9k miles/Feb 2020 (although it said 11k when I bought it and I've not done 2k worth of driving), so won't be long before having to go to a stealer to get the service done whilst under warranty.

One thing I've noticed a lot of, are comments about not having your car washed by the stealers, are they genuinely that bad?

It totally depends on your view of washing a car.

If you are happy to take your car to a local hand car wash place, the dealer will do a similar job.

If you are into "detailing" then you dont want them to do it.

Ouch, I try to avoid the hand car wash and machine wash places if I can. That makes a lot of sense and will add that to my list of things to note for my service.
