Looking for ideas, what PSI do you run and why? What effects have you noticed?

I run what's on the door jam placard, because that's what I'm supposed to. No issues but I only have 6k on the car so I wouldn't expect to see any abnormal wear indicators for a while.

Run what it says on the door jam. They spend a lot of time and research to determine the proper PSI for even tire wear and fuel efficiency.

You can run 2 - 3 PSI less for a little more comfortable ride but I would not go less than that.

On what model; 3 series, or 4 series, what engine size? Thanks

19” alloys, staggered, non RF I have mine at 37 all round.

Recently bought f30 320d xdrive but it has the 20 inch m performance staggered wheels.
Any advice on tyre pressures as the card in the door doesn't go up to 20inch.

According to Tire Rack...

You should run the pressures listed on the door placard regardless of RFT, non-RFT, or size.

2015 328i (probably base model), 17" wheels, Continental run-flats: Door sticker says 32 all around. I've been running 34, as it's comfortable enough and I hope to eke out a little more fuel mileage. Any higher on the cracked blasted streets here, and my car would start complaining.

I run 36-38 psi on all corners when square setup and what the door jam says when I have the factory staggered wheels/tires.

Well, I thought I'd been running 34, as that was what the iDrive TPMS readout said when I first took delivery of the car. Last week I saw the tires (run-flats) were down to about 31. On Saturday I aired the tires to the point where the iDrive read 34 (and my air pump said I was pushing 40 psi).

Car rode on these cracked streets like a truck without shocks. I let some air out so that TPMS reads about 32, the placard pressure. Much more comfortable. If you live in a town as I do with the finest of Third World roads, unless you want to beat your car up or are a masochist, go with the placard pressure. You'll thank yourself.

at cold temp? i can only imagine what they are at when up to operating temp.

2017 440i convertible. 36/41 f/r. Per placard on door jamb. After about 45 min driving rears up to 44-45 psi. Question is: what if I drive for another 4-6 hours at 44-45 psi? Is this too high?

That's a good question, I don't have an answer but it is all dependent upon temp of course. I have had no issues and the car handles great. I only drive around town and the most highway driving I do is to work which is about 10 min on the highway.

I thought I would leave it at 40psi for a while after a local indy shop recommended it, the 2 guys there are friends of the family and race and tune so I thought I'd try what they recommended.

i run 34f 37r on my 19s and after a 20min drive on a day thats 70 degrees on the highway my rears are up to 39. i cant imagine what starting at 40 would do. you should enable the PSI measurements in the idrive to see

Checked the tire pressures with a G.H. Meiser Accu-Gage. Turns out I have been running 34 all around, and comfortably. So I performed a TPMS reset, which you have to do while parked and with the ignition or engine on, and then drove the car for a few miles (such a chore, huh?) while the tire pressures reset. TPMS now says I have about 32 psi all around.

I once rode around horrible roads in Ireland for 3 days in a C class rental at 4-6 bar(~60 psi+, can't remember exactly) - it was a rental and I had no reason to check until a low tire pressure warning came on and I checked it at a gas station. The folks there were all dumbfounded. Quickly lowered to around 2.2 bar and carried on. Only noticed slightly softer ride.

So for those of you running high - tire wear might be an issue but the tires can take it. They say to increase pressure by 10psi for extended 100mph + driving. You aren't going to pop a tire at 40 or even 45 PSI unless you're running the ultra low profile minimum tire width for a wheel width or something.

My F36 door plate say 32F and 35R, tires are RFT. But I went in for service I found out my dealer put 36 psi all around.
