G-Plus Intercooler imperfections

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a G-Plus intercooler (aka Amazon Intercooler) and unboxed it today. While unboxing, I noticed there were some imperfections to the fins. Some of the fins seemed to be lightly "compressed"(top to bottom) as pictured in the link below. Is that something to be worried about? Will that affect the efficiency of the intercooler? should I return it and get a better quality FMIC? Thank you and sorry for the noob questions.

No problem, burger tuning sells one for a similar price, slightly more I think. And from what I've heard they have good reviews.

+1 I have nothing but good things to say about my VRSF FMIC. Minor issue with the fan shroud clips but that's since been resolved.

I’m leaning towards the vrsf hd FMIC. Hopefully I don’t run into fitment issues.

That's what I've got and I recommend it pretty highly. VRSF's fitment issues were mostly isolated to their DP's and CP's, the only problem I had with the FMIC were the fan shroud clips, but that was a matter of 5 minutes with a sawzall. And they've since fixed it.

your gonna return the i/c over 3 bent fins...?

you do realize after your post install test drive you sure to impart just as much 'damage' that occurred when the shipping dude pressed his fingernail into those precious fins...

These fins density and quality is shit. Anyone who knows anything about intercoolers can see that (and im not even talking about the bent ones that couldnt endure shipping but are supposed to last a lifetime once installed )

I agree that buying from a company that historically has problems is asking for trouble (we've gone over this in other threads lol). I've even been very vocal on here about my qualms with VRSF (and my horror story that was the install of their DP) so you know I'm not just here pedaling their products, but I genuinely think they're improving. I'd still be hesitant to recommend their DP/CP until I hear that people are happy with the revisions they've made, but as far as I know, there have only been a tolerable about of complaints with the FMIC. I'm sure there are fitment issues here and there as there always are/will be, but like I said the issues with the FMIC are "within tolerance", if you will, when it comes to the FMIC. My VRSF had excellent build quality and my logs speak to it's effectiveness at lowering IATs.

The FMIC pictured above is absolutely shot. Not just the bent fins though like mike@x-ph.com said, but the density of the fins is very weak and the overall build quality is just buns. I would've sent that back in a heartbeat. OP, good choice.

I wasn't too concerned about the bent fins.. I was more concerned about the fin patterns and how they looked compressed.

If you searched around a bit you would see that g-plus is garbage

One member bought their oil cooler and the intercooler for it was horrible.
