Whats interesting is their option 2 (that you have shown) looks like one solid aluminium pipe, where the description reads like OEM (plastic) pipe cut and fit with the metal adapter end.

Just interesting.. metal seems the way to go here.

We are offering two option for the F-Series high flow inlet pipe.

Option 1:
Is the custom aluminum section and t-bolt clamp only. You will need to cut your OEM inlet and clamp it to our section. Instructions and t-bolt clamp included.

Option 2:
One piece complete aluminum pipe

Website can be confusing. The original PT Inlet was just the metal end near the turbo that got rid of the constriction point. But it meant cutting a stock plastic inlet pipe to use the other half of the stock pipe connected by a sleeve with clamps. Photo shows the full metal PT Inlet that I got from Kies Motorsports who installed it for me.

I’m doing the DV and Pure turbo inlet pipe upgrade soon (stock DV & FTP V1 inlet pipe right now).

Did you get much additional noise from the Turbosmart plumb back model?

The Plumb Back version operates as OEM and redirects all the boost back into the system - so shouldn't be any more noise than stock

With the Turbosmart Plumb Back model BOV, the driver can hear a low volume, but distinct, whippoorwill sound. It's more prominent on the driver's (left) side because the sound is coming from the intake opening. It happens in Sport Mode when you are accelerating and you suddenly pull your foot up a bit from the throttle. The sound indicates that the BOV is bleeding off just the excess boost back into the intake.

Kinda cool to get some feedback that it's working. If you step right back on the gas the power is instantly there because the Turbosmart is only bleeding off the slight excess. It's not draining off all of the boost. Don't think that I've ever heard it in Comfort Mode.

A whippoorwill makes a two syllable sound. The Plumb Back model just makes the sound of the second syllable. It's pretty quiet on the car but I distinctly hear it under the circumstances that I mentioned. Listen here:

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I like the idea of the whole unit replacement vs the GFB DV+. Just wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to be annoying.

Results are inconclusive. Like I reported back earlier. Unless you can dyno back to back or make track runs back to back you wont see anything. Right now its a waste of money. The data just doesnt support it. I think the guy who seen something was at higher elevation on a more restrictive setup.. not an f30.

Well my inlet install was the right thing to do regardless.. my OEM pipe had two broken flanges and was nowhere near secure.

I also got the BOV installed though it isnt easy.. the change in shape makes the infamous top bolt even harder to access. Its doable, just not a lot of fun.

Nice to have them both done though, especially the inlet.

My setup isn't more restrictive, but at 3,200ft I am close to maxing out the turbo on OTS maps.

I am bumping this thread because i am wondering:

1. Has anyone tried the VRSF inlet option where you cut your stock inlet and fit to this? https://x-ph.com/vrsf-high-flow-upgr...2-f22-f20-f21/

2. Has anyone tried the MST inlet?
https://www.mst-performance.com/products/bw-mk3352v2

3. Has anyone figured out why some people's MAF maxes at 41.4 and others goes to 45+? I have seen no pattern.

I wouldn't do the cut one myself (option1) simply because if I am going to get in that deep and do the work, might as well do the whole thing right.

You installed the pure right? Have you ever seen the issue shown in this post? Seems like its an issue with the aux water pump, which would apply to Msport? Or is it just in a different position for gran coupe?

I actually messaged him regarding this exact thing when I was having installation problems and he said that he did not have that auxillary pump in that location. I used his video a lot during my installation (thank you again BMW DIY Guy). Have not seen anyone else even remotely mention it either. When I called and spoke to Jimmy at PureTurbos he had never heard of any installation problems because of that pump.
